Laggy CoD 4

im lagging allot in CoD 4 but in CSS im fine, i have tried to set my settings down but it doesnt help. when i join a CoD 4 server i lose my connection to vent and xfire etc... i have a pretty good PC that should handle CoD4 easily. can anyone help me please?

i dunno if its related but lately when i go onto cod4 i get really bad lag for reason whatsoever, i used to be able to play it fine....damn wireless

I used to lag terribly out of nowhere when ever evenbalance released a new update, and i think they just released a new one.

Type into the console "/cg_drawlagometer 1".

If the bar on the top changes a lot then it's your computer, if it's the one on the bottom it's your connection.

It might be /com_drawlagometer, i donno atm I'm at school.

its the bar at the top, but i have played CoD 4 on my PC for a very long time with the same settings without this problem. btw i found out i get about 900-950 ping if that helps.

first its not changeing a bit, then sundenly the yellow bit goes to the top. :S

You need under 100 ping to play smoothly.

i have the same specs as you, but an extra 1GB of ram and play with everything maxed out, no probs.

Those specs should run COD4 quite comfortably.

It doesn't seem to be your hardware, unless you lag in SP also.

Have you tried re-installing yet?

(Before you do, save your profile. Go to C:\Program Files\Activision\CoD4\Players\Profiles and copy the profiles you want to save. Stick them on the desktop or somewhere, and when you've re-installed paste the folder back to the origional place.)

yeah but i think i know how to fix it. when i brought my player back in, it started to lag. so for some reason its because of the player i think.

so i think i will just start a new one. to bad i had golden AK and almost golden sniper and sub-gun. shit happens

meh, it's more fun raping away with total stock stuff, really annoys people, esp. when you destroy someone who's carrying a gold AK around.

lol yeah, but im DLing in around 100 KB/s but it still hasent moved from zero. anybody know what has happend?

Before (or if you already did then forget this part) You delete your profile, go to Options > Set Optimal Settings and see if that fixes it.

a new problem.

my CoD 4 is updating and it goes up to 2, 3 or 4% and then it goes back to zero or it goes up to 100%. when its at 100 a click it and it goes back down to 0% again.

can anyone please help me?
