Some guy wants to buy my 24" BenQ LCD for $275. I paid $290 for it back in August, and it's going for $370 on Newegg right now. I plan on getting either this or this, but I'm not really sure which one to get. Does "High Gloss" mean that the actual screen is glossy or just the area around the actual screen?

So should I sell my BenQ for that low of a price? If so, which of the 2 monitors should I get?

Thanks lovers.

i would see how much you can get for it on hardforum.com.  you might be able to get more.

I never really even use that computer, and 24" just seems to be a little too big for gaming. 1920 x 1200 is pretty stressful on my 8800GTS 320MB as well.

Meh, I'd rather keep it local so that I don't have to worry about UPS or FedEx fucking it up.

This poll hasn't been very successful.

I'm the only one who's voted.

High gloss is the shiny paint work on the monitor.

Save up and buy a better video card rather than change monitors. You'll end up upgrading your video card at some point in the future anyway, and when you do you'll miss the 24" once you get a card that could have handled it easily.

I vote no u, keep your monitor.

If I ever play a game, it's BF2. I'm not worried about upgrading my GPU for a while.

Also, what about this one?

Much better than the first two (or one really, one just had gloss paint) monitors you were thinking about.

But the price is a big factor. You'll actually still make a profit by buying this one. But the Recommended Resolution for these monitors is 1680 x 1050. If you think your card won't handle the native resolution you'd be better to buy the cheaper monitor and save your money. Bf2 isn't going to improve at all with these different monitors on that gfx card.

As for your current monitor, BenQ aren't too good and overpriced imo. They are prone to have dead pixels after you've owned them for awhile. I'd buy the original choice of monitor, whether you get gloss or not is up to you. But gloss is likely to shine reflections into your eyes and be a nuisance.

Save the hundred washingtons and donate them to charity (lol we both know that's not gunna happen)

The card will handle 1680 x 1050 fine as long as I'm not running Crysis maxed out. Like I said, I rarely play any games anymore, and I don't really have any interest to until BF3 comes out. 1920 x 1200 is even fine for BF2. I still average > 100 FPS on high settings. The main reason I want to get a 22" is because they are much cheaper, and they really aren't too much different from a 24". I would rather have $80 bucks in my pocket and a slightly smaller screen that also matches my sexy 37" Samsung right next to it.

Do what you please, but you've heard everyone say stick with the 24".

Yeah, knowing me, I would regret not having the 24" anymore. I guess I'll just wait until I can find a good deal on a 24" Samsung.

2ms.

Also, gloss is good, colorful and feels more like a nice CRT in a low-light environment, but sucks for sunlight, overhead lighting and some of the harsher lamplight, whereas matte can be a bit dingier, but more flexible. Hop into an Office Depot and give them all a looksie.

So gloss does mean the actual screen? I'm going to go to a store today and check them out side to side. 2ms/5ms doesn't mean shit, does it?
