I got this yesterday, its really good, and no i don't use macro's for BF2. Just my beloved WoW. Other than that, it's a really comfortable keyboard to use, backlighting is nice and it's built to a really high quality feel. Some nice features!

The hardware reliability is poor, granted, but it's better than the competition in pretty much every way that counts. Also the new ones have FAR fewer problems. So if he has a new one, he should be fine. If you've got a repaired or refurbed one, then yes, sucks to be you.
Never had a problem with my 360, had it for just over a year now.
