Your version of common sense is very naive.

There are some people who get addicted to pot easier, but overall, a far higher percentage of users get addicted to alcohol than to pot.  The prevalence of alcoholism pretty much defies your entire point here.

My friends and I do our part to ensure alcohol is far more widely consumed than weed.

It's a matter of perception.  If alcohol was illegal, then cops would find more of that.  Why?  Because contraband is profitable.  I'm sure not all of these people were simply users.  In fact, most of them were probably dealers -- that is, if the cops are interested enough in looking for pot on someone.

The point is...  both alcohol and pot are high demand products, but only one of them is illegal and, as a result, much more valuable.

Profit is generally a stronger motivator in people than any addiction.

Of course alcohol addiction is a bigger problem.

You can't be a functional alcoholic.  You can be a functional pothead (like me).  I don't need to look up a study to answer that.

I can go to work, smoke all day long and get my shit done.  If I were to drink all day long I would just sit on bf2s all day and shoot off one-liners.
