I have the possibility to buy those parts :

AMD PHENOM II X4 920 2.80G/3600/8M/AM2+
AM2+ GIGA GA-MA78GPM-DS2H AMD780 PCIE
OCZ 667MHZ DDR2 NO-ECC 8192MB AM2 QUAD KIT
700W POWER ATX OCZ GAMEXSTREAM SLI

Will they work well together ? It's all I need to know.

I am aware that there are tons of better parts out there but I am not building a new super powerful PC, just something that will be way better than what I have right now, on a limited budget. My actual PC suffered a power surge a while back. And I pumped some life back into it. But now it is slowly dying.

I already have the casing, and a new video card, new hard drives, mouse/key, and other parts by the way. And the OS.. I will just borrow it for a while

thanks!

You don't need 700W.

You don't need 8GB of memory if its at 667mhz

I know, but for like 10$ less I can have a 550/600w. So might as well get the 700 for an extra handful of change.

same for the memory. It's like 130$ (CDN) for 8G. I could save 20$ and have 6G less..

WHAT?????

How, on earth, does the SPEED affect the QUANTITY (or vice-versa)????

I'd rather have 2GB at 1066Mhz than 8@667

And then wonder why your computer gets slow whenever it requires >2GB.

That's a good compromise of cost/speed/quantity.

I would seriously suggest NOT going below 4GB, unless you definitely plan to add more memory in the future.

4GB is rapidly becoming the minimum required.

Oh yes.

That's why it's important to set a budgetary limit.

(at least that way the possible combinations of components is somewhat limited - if you allow the budget to grow, the possible combinations become endless)

Thanks y'all !
Now I'm gonna go outside and enjoy the super cold weather, yay!

double check that this mobo works fine with quads. I've heard off too many 780G boards burning with phenoms
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

Would you recommend a not-too-expensive mobo ?

I was referring to this and this article as well as a post on OCF or XS.

tbh I don't really know enough about budget AM2+ boards to give a good suggestion
