back ups mainstream news sources at end;

In terms of worst-case scenarios for the Joint Force
and indeed the world, two large and important states bear
consideration for a rapid and sudden collapse: Pakistan and
Mexico.
Some forms of collapse in Pakistan would carry
with it the likelihood of a sustained violent and bloody
civil and sectarian war, an even bigger haven for violent
extremists, and the question of what would happen to its
nuclear weapons. That “perfect storm” of uncertainty alone
might require the engagement of U.S. and coalition forces
into a situation of immense complexity and danger with no
guarantee they could gain control of the weapons and with
the real possibility that a nuclear weapon might be used.
The Mexican possibility may seem less likely, but the
government, its politicians, police, and judicial infrastructure
are all under sustained assault and pressure by criminal gangs
and drug cartels. How that internal conflict turns out over
the next several years will have a major impact on the stability
of the Mexican state. Any descent by Mexico into chaos
would demand an American response based on the serious
implications for homeland security alone.

What is true is that the corruption and violence has reduced mexico to a point that it hardly functions as a state.

So, in short, Mexico will be annexed by the United States and the only ones shooting will be the drug cartels. Pakistan will go up in flames. China will think it sits on the sidelines laughing but they are under financial assault.

I want to go on record that I predict that at some point within the next few decades Israel will be defending America with large robots and fighter jets. Timothy Truman stole the idea out of my brain.

Easy, because the prisons, politicians and police make too much money on it all.

Can we share babysitting duties with china? or are we still solely reponsible for holding the world together?

In the event of a total collapse in Pakistan, I'd expect the indian army to do their part to secure their borders, nobody wants the refugees, but It'd be up to us to secure the Afghan-pakistan border, because god knows the afghans cant tie their shoes without help.

probably depends on the part that they were policing, I wouldn't mind some Chinese meddling in North Korea, Myanmar, and Africa, It's not like they can make it any worse.

Great Wall of China seemed to work OK

and we could just consider it an invasion of the United States if these drug runners (more like terrorists) try to blow a hole in it.

Well, it did, when it was manned properly. If I remember rightly, it only got defeated because a general turned traitor....

And it cost a shit-load to build, and then maintain and man its entire length. There was a brilliant program about it not too long ago. Not a good solution given the current climate

Did the mongols have planes?

Do you really think we'll annex Mexico?

I highly doubt it, and even if we did the drug problems will still come from the south.. I don't think that alot of the drugs get grown in mexico, I could be very wrong though.

You don't need a wall. You want to establish a 100 foot wide border with mines, snipers, machine guns, helicopters, convoys, etc.

But if people want it enough, they'll find a way under or around via sea. Maybe air too.

For keeping out the mexicans during the coming chaos, the great wall of America would seem to be the best option.

As for India/Pakistan...hmmm...have to think about that one.

Yeah except there's a great big ocean that we share with Mexico.  I know plenty of people who have paddleboarded to Mexico and back.  I know one thing we shouldn't do is address the underlying reasons why illegal immigrants come here.
