I understand that competitive folk don't like the game to change at all.
are you just basing that statement of what uzique said? i used to play competetive tf2, and everyone is open to change, but when classes get a perk/unlock whatever to discriminate against another class (ie, natasha was PURELY an anti-scout weapon), it just ruins the game, what im afraid they will do is make a food chain, ie heavy > scout > something else which will just wreck the balance system
i agree with what uzique is saying here, even if the public make the majority, they cannot just ignore the competitive scene's pleas.
They can and they have.
The comp fags make up such a small minority, that if Valve were to pander to them (like so many other devs do) that it would piss off the majority of people who make up their consumer-base.
How exactly would a game preserving the core gameplay and finepoints "piss off the majority"? I doubt the lack of Rank 1-3 Disps/Teles was really annoying the average pub-Joe
. Same for the non-destructible Demo stickies, why? I didn't hear any cries about the irritating stickies before the change, neither in comp or in pub. It's an unnecessary change; whines calling for such changes should be greeted with a customary "learn to play" response.
And jeesh, stop being so inflammatory against the competitive community. Whether you like it or not they're the backbone of your game and bring a lot of media attention and money to the company. They don't change the game you play at all or ruin your own enjoyment of it, in fact their call is often more for the preservation and continuation of a good game, rather than for drastic changes. Kinda pathetic to hate a group of players just because they enjoy playing for prizes or enjoy the better-organized structure and teamwork of proper matches. Pub games infuriate the hell out of me with general cluelessness and lack of skill, it doesn't make me a "fag" just because I seek my enjoyment with other likeminded people.
