Is it me or are we seeing political nepotism here with all the senate seats that need to be filled here?  Case-in-point the seat Hillary Clinton is leaving in New York looking to be taken over by Caroline Kennedy (a political figure-head, but with no experience at all).

Seems that the Democrats could care less if someone can actually do the job right?

You say like Republicans do.

They want yes men, not good men.

McCain is a good man.  You could make an argument about Palin, I guess, but she's actually a governor of a state with a 2009 fiscal budget of $9 billion.

But I wasn't suggesting that Republicans were any better...I was just suggesting the Democrats in this case, specifically in this case in New York the choice for Hillary Clinton's replacement, this is Political Nepotism.

I think Kennedy seems as good or better than most of the dirtbags in govt...
I also think it would be most fair to the people of New York if they had a say in the matter to pick their new senator... pick 3 or 4 people... have a vote... or let the philandering mayor annoint someone... ?

Could the question be raised... how much do these people actually do? they have so many people under them doing the legwork that it makes me wonder what they actually do.

I'm not suggesting or insinuating that she is corrupt - from the surface she does not appear to be.  All I'm saying is shouldn't some experience count in the person who will be selected Senator, like perhaps one of the House of Representatives in Hillary's district?  A Major (not necessary Bloomberg, but I wouldn't have a problem with that if he would take the job)?

Just someone who had some experience instead of someone with a political pedigree like Caroline Kennedy.

All democrats care about is getting their hands on your money, because they no better than you what should happen to it. The power that goes with control over YOUR money, in the form of having YOU dependant on THEM, is also a democratic priority

Patterson has never expressed interest in appointing Kennedy. And I doubt he will.
