Yeah well, then you are not among the "typical" people, because the VAT MAJORITY of people seem to be able to make through life without police harrassment or a police beating. If you constantly draw attention like that, then maybe you need to do a self examination to determain if in fact YOU are not problem instead of the police

Not really. I hardly do anything to warrant Police attention. A lot of people are spoken down to, or sworn at, or have been on the receiving end of excessive force. Not everyone reports it. I couldn't count the number of questionable police acts I've seen on two hands. But what do I know, living here in this country and not reading the news as much?

yeah well if you are seeing this daily and is common I still think you are in the wrong places and might wanna considering hanging out with a different crowd.

It depends where you come from, if you're Irish you probably hate him. If you're an American with a tiny but of Irish blood and insistent on getting into every Irish debate like it was your own background, and believe me I've met many in this category, then you hate him.

I'm just going by what I've read about him.  It looks to me like he overthrew one form of oppression and installed another.  It reminds me a bit of things like when Castro overthrew Batista or many of the various revolutions in Africa.

I know what you mean about seeing parallels between our revolution and Cromwell's rise, but Cromwell did not conduct himself like Washington did.  Washington was a relatively restrained leader once entering the presidency.  He basically acted more like a humble civil servant than a forceful dictator.

The rise of America was very different from most revolutions because it was mostly angled at limiting the power of government.  Cromwell essentially made himself a military version of a king.

So I'd say Washington was a much more admirable person than Cromwell, by a longshot.  I'd say this even if I was British, Canadian, or Chinese for that matter.

The only difference is that we don't have chavs around here. Sure lots of fuckers dress even worse, but no chavvish behavior if you know what I mean. The ones causing trouble from time to time are fascists and illegal immigrants. Mostly Albanians. The political far left is quite sensible actually.

True that. And the problem of this particular cop will be solved in court. But the general problem of police brutality will not. The government will have to be made to address that.
