Black Mesa (previously known as Black Mesa: Source) is a third-party total conversion mod for Half-Life 2. The ultimate goal of the mod is to recreate the original Half-Life from the ground up, using the advanced capabilities of the Source engine, the improved graphics quality of Half-Life 2 and enhanced character AI, to create a new and more engrossing in-game world by introducing more varied, complex environments and more challenging, realistic gameplay. Black Mesa will be playable by anyone who owns any Source engine game.

For those that didn't know, it's basically Half Life 1's storyline retold with the super sexy source engine.

The only thing HL: Source really had was better lighting and better water effects.

I have no idea how they managed to do all of this. I mean, it's just a mod made by the community but it looks like an actual valve production. Really now, this shouldn't be free. I'd pay for it.

Oh, and it's not like Half Life Source. Please, that game is an embarrassment to the source engine.

My friend showed me this. HL1 was, for it's time, easily the best game ever, and even 10 years later it is still more fun than most newer games.

The only thing I'm kind of worried about is the voice acting. Barney's voice acting seemed kind of...amateur. But, I don't care, everything else looks great.

lol yeah, me too.

I thought that it was dead, they haven't released much new info in over a year until now. It also looks like (most of) the game is playable, but there are definately allot of bugs in it.

Hopefully Valve will feature it on Steam like they did with Insurgency, AoC, ZP and DIPRIP.

Nahh, Valve aren't ghey like Blizzard when it comes to mods that copy their games. Also you need a Sauce game to be able to pleh it in the first place so Valve could only make money from it.
