So as all Burnout Paradise drivers will know, Criterion have announced and released many free game updates, adding in more and more content with every update. So far we've had:

- Cagney, the first major update which added Online Stunt Run, Marked Man and Road Rage, two new cars and 70 new challegnes.

- Burnout Bikes, which added Motorcycles into a Burnout game for the first time ever. Other major changes within this update included a Day/Night cycle, Dynamic weather, Paradise Awards and 70 all-new Bike Freeburn challenges.

- Playstation Trophies added Burnout Paradise Trophies to PS3 owners.

But 2008 was just so boring compared to what Criterion have announced for 2009:

Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box
https://www.criteriongames.com/banners/banner_ultimate_box.jpg
Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box is the normal Burnout Paradise with all of the current updates implemented in game right away (including Burnout Party, coming soon in Feb 2009), which is available for PS3 and Xbox 360 owners, and for the first time, PC owners. (Must have if you haven't got the game btw :>) The Ultimate Box is released in Februrary 2009.

Burnout Party

Coming in February 2009, Burnout Party isn't really an online mode. Instead, grab 7 mates and gather round your console and play various mini-games with each other!! There are extra Trophies and Achievements in this pack. To get this pack, gamers must purchase Burnout Party.

Legendary Cars

A thread has been made on BF2s about this already, but this looks great. 4 new cars are being implemented into the game (possibly at a cost). The car that has been shown is the "Jansen 88 Special", which appears to hover!! No confirmed release date as of yet.

Toy Cars
https://farm4.static.flickr.com/3062/3030317022_ca0cd09cbf.jpg
Time to go all Micro Machines in Paradise!! The Carson GT Concept P12, the Krieger Racing WTR, the Hunter Takedown 4x4 and the Hunter Manhattan are all featured in the image, but another 4 all-new cars are being included too, bringing the total number of Toy Cars to 9!! I'm not sure how its going to look in-game, but looks very interesting!! This is available to buy later in 2009.

Boost Specials

Criterion wrote:

This pack will be available for purchase in 2009 and brings you 2 amazing machines, the likes of which you've never driven before.

The first is the Carson Extreme Hotrod.

It's the fastest car in Paradise City - a stripped down, ultra low, overpowered straight line monster.

It has its roots in American Rat Rod culture - it's a wildly exaggerated Hot Rod, based on a '20s Roadster.

It also has a new vehicle dynamics system, which means that it handles more intuitively and drifts more realistically than any other car.

And it has blue exhaust flames - this means it has a totally different boosting system to those that you're familiar with.
More details within the New Year.

The Island

A new expansion to Paradise City!! If you can see it; you can drive it! Literally. Criterion are talking about how you can drift around the outside of buildings and then jump off them, providing the biggest jumps in the game so far!!! This was originally announced in May 08, but is expected to be released in 2009.

and also...

Burnout Paradise Premium Pack, which will be announced on December 5th

Ahhh, I love Criterion =]

But 2008 was just so boring compared to what Criterion have announced for 2009:
Which you all have to pay for. All the new cars (including the awesome back to the future one), the crappy party mode, the weird dragster, the island..)

They have nothing on Valve. They even broke their promise about the island. They originally said it would be free, as having locations where only certain people could drive would cut the community in half, and so the only stuff you'd have to pay for would be small premium addons like extra cars. And now its 'oh well actually you do have to pay for it'. Whatever happened to not wanting to cut the community in half?

GG Criterion.

Does anybody know when the new Burnout is supposed to be released? I was thinking of getting this one but then realised it's pretty old so I might be better off waiting for the new one.

A while ago EA said that they had teams working on a sequel to Burnout Paradise, as well as sequels to a few other games like Army of Two and.. can't remember what else.

That's all we know though. Burnout Paradise may be old but there's nothing else on the radar and its as full of life as ever.

How long has Burnout been out for? I just figured it's been out for a while so they're probably working on a new one.

Also look at the OP. They're even re-releasing the game. It may be 'old' but its still the newest one

I'm not saying it's old. I was just wondering, I was thinking about picking it up maybe in a month or two. I love playing arcade racing games online, I just don't want to buy it and have a new one come out relatively soon killing the online community.

It got to the point where I was going for the Elite license, I had done pretty much every event possible except the Stunt runs, and I absolutely detested Stunt run so I gave up

Online is....meh, requires too much cooperation to get things done if you're going for the challenges.

I stopped after I got my A license lol Anyhow, you're right about the online challenges, cooperation is a term yet unknown to most Burnout drivers.

Party Mode costs money. It's the only DLC I haven't purchased. The Toys are great fun

yeah, party mode is a huge waste of money. It's a pass the controller multiplayer where everybody completes incredibly easy challenges, such as: drive down a road or drive backwards down a road. And there's only about 5 different challenges.

If you have friends over, it would be more fun to pass the controller in regular gameplay.

Current gen consoles are shit, Splitscreen > Console online.

Has anyone bought or played Cops n Robbers?  It sounds like it might be fun and judging from the size of the new patch, it seems like they did more than just reskin a few cars to look like police.
