This, for some reason, was the after dinner topic at Thanksgiving. I tried my best to drown out the conversation and watch football with my boy, but I eventually put in my two cents. My answer is no. Your thoughts?

Because it is not a matter of individual ability or will, rather how they may affect the group they work in.Little BaBy JESUS wrote:

That is really sexist.jsnipy wrote:

Perhaps it is. So are all girl schools, yes? Or did you mean Starship Troopers was sexists?Roc18 wrote:

And yes it's good for women to be allowed. That shouldnt even be a question, certain women are more qualified than certain males in the military right now.

My point is, to say that it's bad to have women in the military because men might want to fuck one or think she is too weak is stupid. Its all individual ability, if you have a woman that is 230 and 6ft athletic against a guy that is 100 pounds and is 5'5 unathletic, which one do you think the solidiers will think is weaker? The one that is guy or the one that is actually stronger that is a woman?jsnipy wrote:

Point taken. But it is not all about individual ability, its about the team. Say I'm qualified to be a PR person; with tons of experience and great references. I feel passionate about equal right and I want to be the local PR spokesperson for the local NAACP, would I get the job?Roc18 wrote:

The team? How could a woman more qualified than a man hurt the team if she is more qualified? and Why wouldnt you get the job?jsnipy wrote:

edit: and men don't get pregnant.
Don't you think sexual tension could evolve? Don't a substantial number of people fall in love at their place of work? Would these tensions not be disruptive?Roc18 wrote:

because women are a liability in a combat situation.Roc18 wrote:

Should gay men be allowed to join the military then?jsnipy wrote:

Sure. I don't think you would find a great deal of two way attraction in that scenario (assuming the majority of men are not homosexual). It could be argued that a gay man could be considered a liability, but I do not feel it would be the same situation as a woman. Different thread perhaps.Uzique wrote:
