Ok. so im installing my OCZ vendetta 2 CPU cooler on  my e8400 CPU, P5Q Pro mother board...

and we got 3 of the push pins in.... but the final one wont go in no matter how much we push.... it just wont click.

we tried the Heatsink in several directions.

It is like this currently.

So... any suggestions? what do we do???

Quick help would be appreciated so we can continue build.

Are you sure that the cooler is compatible with that motherboard?

Yes.

Ok we did it... it took 3 people with pressure in the right area and it worked.

u guys remembered to push the opposite pins in first? like: up left -> down right ?

it really doesn't need much force when u do it right.

It looks quite normal really, in comparison. What case are you using? Cause the side of my P182 only just fits on (like hardly 1cm of clearance).

Srsly?

Does the far outer end of the heatsink even get WARM, like AT ALL!?! I cannot possibly see how something that big can have too much more cooling power than something half the size, sure, more surface area is bigger, but there comes a point when it doesn't matter how much surface area you have, it just won't be utilized.

That coming from someone who's proud of his .30Ghz OC, and buys the cheapest possible mobo/CPU

But seriously, I cannot see how heat can physically get that far, even on a 4.00Ghz E8400

You really notice the huge improvement when playing on a CRT monitor at 800 x 600 16bit colour.

haha, I made a poll after the frustration of installing my F7P on my mobo and new chip a few months back.  Damn if you dont get them on good on your first attempt, you're in world of hurt.  It will seriously take a fucking UN resolution to keep you from seriously raining down a world of destruction upon this ill-fangled device.

Jesus, if you havent gotten it on yet.. take it off.... start over.  position it in place. Then steadily push and turn into place the top left pin.  Then the bottom right, and vise versa.  try not to put any force on the HSF assembly as this could and will dislodge any of the previously secured little fuckers.  GL, and godspeed.

BTW, why does it face up?  fan should be blowing towards outtake fan, amirite?

ps.  Sweet fucking rig man.

depends on the case, if it's a antec 900 or cm690 or some others they have exhausts at the top as well.

You don't have to turn the pins. You turn them to unlock them, but to install you just turn them initially to "reset" them, and then just push until it clicks. It's easy as hell, I dunno why everyone bitches about them. Takes literally 30 seconds, if that.

It's not so bad if you read the directions and get some bearings with the finicky little bastards, but in the case of a new build some simple screws would be great.
