Why do they just suddenly go about pardoning a bunch of people in their final days?

For the lulz?

How about you pardon the border patrol agent who shot (in the ass) the illegal immigrant drug dealer crossing the border? Actually just call it time spent.

Because they somehow think it'll boost their legacy...

I find that hard to believe since 99% of all Americans probably couldn't name one person pardoned. It's usually the work of some other politician lobbying the president.

Probably because it was the last thing to do on their list that they really didn't want to do through out their presidency.

That would be the right thing to do.
We have eight years evidence that such will not be forth coming from him on  the way out.

They should stop listening to lobbyists...  granted...  that'll never happen.

So why does a president pardon criminals? Is it a custom, something like "pardoning" a turkey for thanksgiving?

Presidential pardons are perversions of justice. What happened to no one being above the law?

I misread one of them, which made me laugh:

Is how I read this:

Kenneth Charles Britt (1998 conspiracy to violate fish and wildlife laws)

Without reading the whole list, has anyone been pardoned for releasing hostages? Cause when i rob a bank on my holiday I want a pardon, so does it work or wat

Impeach him for what? The president's power to pardon is absolute. He could pardon Charles Manson if he wanted and there's nothing anyone could do about it.

Pardons... I never understood this policy of Presidents jumping in with the pardon wand in their last couple of months. Weren't these people put away for a reason? It's not like it's Guantanamo bay detainees he's pardoning; these people had actual trials and evidence against them.
