I'm waiting til I finish all the side quests, find all the bobbleheads, and build all the weapons. That way I'll finally assault the Jefferson Memorial and then I'll use the damn thing.

things in brackets like (+) or [2-.] Will either remove duds or replenish your tries.

I think you should do the main quest until you make friends with the Brotherhood of Steel and get the "Power Armour" training. Than take your time doing what you want.

edit:
You get the Power Armour training by completing the "Picking up the Trail" part of the main quest, which is about half way through the main quest.

Update: I muted the sound and it seems to work just fine. I tried to look for new sound drivers, but the app was extremely confusing and I thought I'd balls it up for sure.

I already tried the k-lite codecs fix, but it had so many error messages that I doubt it fixed anything regardless. Apparently I have a "Legacy Audio" card, or at least I think I do. I know jack all about audio.

Pick the first word, then the second one, then the third one, then switch it off.

Law of averages says that eventually your word is going to be in the first three. May take a while, but at least you don't have to think.

Microsoft?

No. The Audio works fine in every other game, and it even worked for the first 15 minutes or so (until I got out of the vault). Clearly not an issue on my end, but rather the compatability with the game that has had numerous crash origins to begin with. The work-around list for the 5-15 minute crash symptom is so long, it's disgusting.

Anyway, I'd rather not play this game without sound. I might look at a few more sound options, but otherwise I'll wait for the "we fucked up and sent you a beta" patc.h

Downloaded a windows AC7 hotfix, patched it up. Game worked fine from killing raiders until hitting a little pond, and it started freezing in about 5 second intervals. Died to some sort of water creature, and when I spawned I looked at a dead raider and it froze for good.

No issues when the sound is off. I guess I'll wait another 2 months for Bethesda to make a fix to this alpha of a game. It's not even beta, betas should at least run. How they overlook audio cards and programs that nearly every PC owner has is beyond me.
