BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraq's defense minister on Saturday warned of the dangers of withdrawing U.S. forces before the end of 2011, a date set with Washington in a security pact opposed by some lawmakers.

This isn't new. Almost every single poll taken in Iraq shows that the Iraqis, as anyone would, want foreign forces and foreign influence out of their country. They have had their mind made up since the get go. That violence for the past 5 years wasn't for fun...

Yep...  that's why we need to leave and let them sort out shit with their own money.  Everybody complains about people on welfare, but lately, it's been Iraq and corporations that have been begging for bailouts.

Fuck all of them.

And the majority of American people wanted the same thing (and the majority of Brits, Germans, etc).

Again, nothing new.  The violence over the last five years has not, for the most part, been perpetrated by the Iraqi people, but by people coiming to Iraq from other middle eastern nations to fight the Americans.  Yes, they want the US and all other influences out of their country.  Who wouldn't? But they also want stability, and a whole lot of Iraqis know that the US is the best way of achieving that.  As long as we leave afterwards.

Even I'd be in favor of staying in Iraq over handing it over to the Russians.

Iran basically runs Iraq anyway if you look at the connections between the Shia community in Iraq and the Iranian government.  That's pretty much inevitable.  They'll essentially take over whenever we choose to leave, regardless of whether it's today or 10 years from now.

As much as I lulz at that story about Pershing, that's such a bullshit fucking story it's unbelievable.

Two reasons:

"Captured 50 terrorists"

Oh yeah, because it's just easy to do that isn't it. Just walk into an area and capture 50 fucking terrorists just like that, because you all know they're terrorists. Fuck sake, any idiot with half a brain knows life isn't that fucking easy. It's not a fucking video game.

"For the next 42 years there was not a single Muslim extremists attack anywhere in the world"

I mean honestly, I'm not even going to explain this one. Anyone who even believes this story is a fucking idiot who should be executed in the manner in which the story itself describes.

Yeah most of it's bullshit and the guy was a tool. But it's still a fun idea.

What percentage of attacks and according to who exactly? I know there are foreign combatants flocking in to Iraq but I never realised there was actual data out there that breaks down who has been responsible for the majority of attacks.
