Also as a mini rant... If you are gonna kill every fucking person you see, play death match not free roam. And by the same token, if you want to play death match, join a fucking deathmatch game... Don't join the race/free roam/ co-op game I just started and INSTANTLY vote for a new game type. Choose the game type you want BEFORE joining a server not after.
I'm buying it for PC (eventually) but I don't buy retail copies anymore due to install problems on this computer I've had with games...most notably, FC2.ceslayer23 wrote:

'Grand Theft Auto' yields road to the 'Lost and Damned'
Grand Theft Auto IV will offer a new downloadable game, The Lost and Damned. It will be available Feb. 17.
The upcoming episode of the video game Grand Theft Auto IV looks to be a wild one.
GTA IV, which was released in April for the Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3, focused on former Eastern European soldier Niko Bellic and his escalating life of crime in the boroughs of Liberty City. This new episode, available Feb. 17 via download exclusively for those who own the Xbox 360 version (no price yet), stars Johnny Klebitz, a member of Liberty City biker gang The Lost.
"Johnny is a very different character than Niko, with a very different background," says Dan Houser, vice president of creative development for Rockstar Games. "I can't go into too much detail on the story, because we try not to give away too much plot before the game is released. But I can say that the story will show you a different side of Liberty City."
The episode, titled The Lost and Damned, requires players to have the full version of the Mature-rated GTA IV (ages 17 and older) and an Xbox Live membership to download. It's likely to carry an M rating, too. (Parents can use the Xbox 360's parental controls to prevent children from accessing inappropriate content.)
GTA IV is the top video game this year; nearly two-thirds of the 5 million copies sold have been for Xbox 360, according to The NPD Group.
In the original game, Niko crossed paths with The Lost several times. This time, Niko has only a bit part, Houser says. "The story is not directly impacted by decisions you took in the main game," he says. But "tons of details and mysteries from the main story get explained, so it will add a lot of color to the main story."
Rockstar Games has been fine-tuning its explorable 3-D virtual worlds since launching its first "sandbox" game with Grand Theft Auto III in 2001.
The new game will let you download more sandbox time. "We feel like we've only scratched the surface in terms of the depth and detail in" GTA IV's mythical Liberty City, says Houser.
Previous games have used downloads to add "new stages, weapons and costumes," says GamePro Media features editor Dave Rudden, "but GTA IV's content will reportedly add hours of gameplay."
Rudden hopes the episode costs $15 or less, but Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter expects a $20 price and says Rockstar could sell 2 million to 3 million downloads. "I see episodic content as a natural progression of the quality of downloadable content."
Happy I am!
They say that 5 mill has been sold, 2/3 of that is on the X360. And then they basically say that 2-3 million downloads will be made. They're basically assuming that every single person that bought GTA 4 on the X360 will now go and buy it from XBL and download it. That's some wishful thinking right there. It should hit 1 million though, maybe. Actually I'm not so sure, alot of people bought GTA 4 but the hype probably wasn't lived up, so that also will affect downloads.
Yes, for the record, I am butthurt that it's not coming out on the PS3, in the foreseeable future. But MS paid the $50 million, when it comes to Sony vs Microsoft, Microsoft is a much bigger, powerful and richer company. There ain't much you can do about that one

Anyone know if this will run GTA IV on PC?
(Just got a new "Family PC", and it happens to meet the rest of the requirements to run the game... jsut not sure on graphics )

I have a 7900GT 256MB and the game won't even come close to being playable even at the lowest of low settings (800x600, view distance = 1, every setting on low)Titch2349 wrote:

Grand Theft Auto IV Minimum System Requirements
OS: Windows Vista - Service Pack 1 / XP - Service Pack 3
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8Ghz, AMD Athlon X2 64 2.4Ghz
Memory: 1.5GB, 16GB Free Hard Drive Space
Video Card: 256MB NVIDIA 7900 / 256MB ATI X1900
Grand Theft Auto IV Recommended System Requirements
OS: Windows Vista - Service Pack 1 / XP - Service Pack 3
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz, AMD Phenom X3 2.1Ghz
Memory: 2 GB (Windows XP), 2.5 GB (Windows Vista)
18 GB Free Hard Drive Space
Video Card: 512MB NVIDIA 8600 / 512MB ATI 3870
but they are not true...you will need ALOT more than the minimum to even play it at some reasonable fps
and no Titch2349 i dont think GTA IV would run well or even run at all on a "Family PC"

Got the Game for Christmas and runs like a dream.
Well, the graphics are all on low, but still look perfectly reasonable. I notice a lot of the buildings textures switch around a lot, but get no lag what-so-ever.
So, got it used for the 360 while I was in Florida...playing the storyline over again (already finished it awhile ago on my PS3 version).
The only difference I've seen in graphics is that the 360 version has more pop-in textures and is a tiny bit laggier, but as a whole is crisper and has less jagged edges than the PS3 version.
Both are pretty equal, but you can definitely tell a difference.
Loading is also much faster on the 360...even without installing it on the HDD.

This Games for Windows Live and Rockstar Social Club bullshit that I have to log in to every time I play so I can save my fucking game makes me rage.
I just spent around 3 hours on free roam with a friend of mine...I really forget how fun this game can be if you're just creative.
I hear ya on that. I haven't played IV yet (omg wut r u doin in this thread!? lulz), but in San Andreas me and my brother would spend loads of time on free roam killing hookers, causing traffic jams, and having epic action-movie-status chases when I flew a heli and he sat in the passenger seat with an M16 and the cops on our tailPoseidon wrote:

lolol, I remember SA's free roam. I used to put the flying cars cheat on and fly around with my friend in ambulances, quads, tanks and shit. So fucking fun.mtb0minime wrote:

Fuck GTAIV for the PC. Fucker always crashes and freezes my PC. I've played beta builds of games that were more stable than this.
GAH GAH GAH......
So i'm on the "Museum Piece" mission... and i'm fighting my way through all the dudes, killing them etc etc, and I kill a certain one of them (One of the three that hang around the stairs on the 1st level you fight on), and I kill him; game immediately freezes.
nvm I think, I've played the game for a lot of hours, and it's never crashed on me before- must be bad luck.
So start the game again, load the mission, fight my way onto the stair case, kill *someone*- game, again, freezes- I can only assume its the same guy it won't let me kill.
"Damn" I think, I can't kill that dude- but o'well, i'll just ignore him. So on the third attempt, with 100% health and armor, I attempt to run past these three dudes (all packing SMGs), and duley get raped, as I do again on the 4th attempt.
"Damn", I think again, "I can't do that either". So on the 5th attempt, I try and jump down the floor- across the balcony and onto the bottom floor, avoiding the three on the stair case. Continue to fight my way out of the building, and jump into a vehicle.
"Loose your wanted level" (4 stars ), it tells me. So I do- and as soon as I loose my wanted level, the game, freezes.
So, it appears I cannot complete "Museum Piece"- any ideas?
(/rant)

Bad luck. The game does crash a lot, I find it helps a LOT if you turn off the automatic video feature.
I just finished it yesterday, (the whole story.) For my first GTA game since the first, (where I ignored the missions and just caused carnage,) it was quite brilliant. It was a really well constructed game, a few flaws in gameplay, (namely the tedious "buddy dates",) didn't ruin the main experience which was incredibly good. Great dialogue, great voicework, great characters, fun and interesting missions, great environment. I mea it was a perfect example of a living breathing city in which you could do pretty much anything you wanted including but not limited to a bit o' the old ultra-violence.
Good fun. Considering I've finished the story and still want to hang around in Liberty City that's quite impressive.
