So, after delays, delays, delays and...more delays, the time has finally come. Within 72 hours, L4D will be released.

Who's getting it? If so, Steam or Retail?

Who's your favorite character?

What do you think your favorite map will be?

What's your favorite weapon?

Favorite tactic?

etc. I'd make an official discussion thread but I figure it's not worth it with an entire forum dedicated to Source games.

So... go.

For me, I bought it yesterday and pre-loaded it already. My favorite character's Bill and my favorite map will definitely be Dead Air (Maximum PC's review which gave it a 10/10 said there's an epic cinematic with a crashing 747). My favorite weapon has been by far the Hunting Rifle and the M16.

I love it, except for the smokers, tanks, and hunters. But the game would probably be really boring without them.

Zoey/Louis. Zoey gets a bit whiney when she's nearly dead so I think Louis is a bit higher up for me.

Hunting rifle is easily my favorite, though I don't think it's really practical in the 2nd stage. I can't wait for open maps to use it in. I'm a big fan of dual wield pistols too.

It's fun figuring out ways to kill witches, but currently tanks just piss me off. I haven't figured out a good way to kill them, it seems 2 people almost always die. We all run backwards and shoot it, but someone always gets hit and crushed to death with a rock, etc. Hunters are fun, and smokers are a bit too weak IMO. I don't think witches should be one-hit-kill like they currently are, but I also don't think they should run around like little bitches after they kill one survivor. It's like... okay, nobody has a molotov, one of us will die, so just sacrifice yourself while we kill it.

I really think achievements will make this game more fun to replay. Especially the melee achievements, if there are any . Nothing gets me going like pistol-whipping the undead.

Never make it that far. Gimps always gets hit or someone gets a giant boulder chucked at them with super-duper accuracy. People claim that they've killed it with only melee though.... time to check youtube!

I'm getting it on Steam.

Favourite character is Francis. He's bad-ass.

I haven't really been keeping track of the new maps. I prefer to be surprised.

Favourite weapon....hmmm....Probably the hunting rifle or auto shotgun.

I don't really have a favourite tactic, by my favourite moments are when a teammate or two gets puked on, and the dry guys get in front to block the oncoming horde and mow them all down, or when a team mate is down and completely surrounded, and coming up, blasting the zombies away, and helping him back up.
..and the other epic moments.

I can't fucking wait.

Preordered on Steam a little over a week ago.

I tend to pick either Zoey or Louis and the shotguns or hunting rifle. My favorite tactic involves excessive jumping, melee usage and spamming laugh/look. Same dumb crap I do in every other FPS.

I'm hesitant to pick a campaign at this point, but I think they'll all be great. Death Toll stands out to me for some reason.

Forgive me if this is slightly off-topic, but seeing all these threads on L4D made me want to try out the game. I open up Steam and see the demo sitting there waiting to be installed (how convenient) but it says under the "Gifts" column that there's only 1 day left. Does this mean I only have 1 day left to install it? Or 1 day left to install and play it?

I think that means the demo has 1 day left.

I assume they'll take it down once it's released, which is in one day.

..So you have one day left to play it.

Well I played it just now and it's freaking awesome. I just don't have the $45 to spend on it Hopefully they keep the demo up, it'd be nice to play that every once in a while until I can afford the game when the price goes down.

Retail for me. I'll be out of the action for a few days as a result because the EU retail release is the 21st not the 18th.

Louis/Zoey. They both have very distinct and sincere laughs. They also have the best other random voice clips too. Leaning towards Zoey for the amazing work the voice actor did when she gets hurt too much. Specifically if she's getting pummelled by a tank. That's something you won't forget anytime soon if you hear it.

Map? No idea.

Weapon . I dunno if I even have a favourite. I usually go for the Auto shotgun when we get to the tier 2 weapons though.

Fave tactic is running away from the group as far as i can when a Tank appears

Bought it from steam.
I dont have a favorite character, though i'm playing most of the time Bill.
Favorite weapon is the m16, great gun to kill dozens of zombies with hs.
The best tactic i and my brothers have found out is when in a train and you suspect a horde coming, split up in groups of 2 and cover both ends of the train. The person who's in front ducks, the other one stays standing behind that person. No zombie is surviving that and it's good for team moral when you kill a whole horde without being hurt.
