Apparently, the subtlety of the OP is lost on many of you in your attempt to defend yourselves. Understandable.

I don't for one second think that Europe is full of a bunch of racists. I fully realize that various European countries have their own internal issues they are still struggling with. And believe me when I say that I know for a fact that elected officials' comments (and at times policies) do not reflect on the population as a whole.

Some prominent European personalities made some stupid comments. And you felt that labeling all of Europe based on those comments was wrong. It happens all the time here, just rarely to euros.

I think the 'subtlety' of the OP was lost when you said 'SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP' at the end of your post. Otherwise I would have assumed it to be what you intended. Either way, what generalizing done by Europeans are you referring to? Or just the two in the OP?

Perhaps it could have been framed differently...but I was intentionally going for a bit of shock value. Was there a bit of frustration at the ridiculous double standards I see applied daily in these forums by non-US people on the US as a whole and our government's policies specifically? Sure.

The fact remains that elected leaders of European countries made racist comments. Stupid comments. So, taking an opportunity to give some of you a taste of your own medicine, I applied the same failed logic many here do when the issue involves the US (not just the "Presiduhnt", Dilbert).

For doing exactly the same thing that many of those flaming me have done...repeatedly. Shoe's on the other foot. And some don't like how it fits.

But I'm supposed to be "man enough" to admit something I have already freely admitted. How many of you who apply ridiculous double-standards and generalizations (many of which involve double-standards and generalizations themselves) are "man enough" to admit it? Hell, I'm willing to bet that it's so second-nature to many of you that you don't even realize you're doing it...or don't care. But you sure are quick to defend your positions when called on it.

OK. I'll correct you: you're wrong.

I think I have explained my intent fairly clearly. It has nothing to do with accusations of being backwards. It has everything to do with elected officials saying/doing something stupid and their constituents being painted with the same brush here on BF2S...just in this instance, it's being done by someone from the US against Europeans.

And for some reason, you guys take issue with it...strange.

PS: If you used wikipedia to find out Berlusconi is Prime Minister in Italy it is wrong, he resigned in May this year ...
