Any of you new yorkers get this?

BBC wrote:

A fake edition of the New York Times announcing the end of the Iraq war has been handed out to commuters in the US.

More than 1m free copies of the 14-page "special edition" newspaper were distributed mainly in the cities of New York and Los Angeles.

Another bogus story was about all Americans being given free health care.

A liberal group called the Yes Men, well known in the US for its practical jokes, claimed responsibility for the elaborate prank.

The fake paper - dated 4 July 2009 - had a motto on its front page which read "all the news we hope to print".

This reminds me of when people were running into the streets yelling, "The War is over!" for the Vietnam war, even though it wasnt, people didnt know that and were dancing in the streets in celebration...

Sadly no. The only thing they're handing out near the subway where I live is  AM NY https://www.wnyc.org/blog/lehrer/archives/archive/am%20NY%20cover%206-thumb.jpg

I read about this earlier today. Way awesome.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

It is free and people take it just because its free...

The owners make money off advertisements though. I remember two years ago they kept handing out a few bundles of these within like 2 hours next to the most populated Bus/Subway stop in Bay Ridge.

Wtf, they are being sold on Ebay for $20-100. Wish I had gone to work today.
