lol i was at the leafs home opener when habs won 6-1.   failgame.  although, i don't like either team so it wasn't that i was pissed that Toronto lost, it's that it was a boring ass game to watch a team get slaughtered

your hockey team is named after a white man that lived with the shawnee tribes in the late 1700s. he was captured and subsequently adopted into the tribe when he was like 9 or something. one of their best war chiefs.

he put a hole in my ancestors skull with the pipe end of his tomahawk.
good times.

actually, they're named after the color of the union soldier's uniforms in the civil war..

The name "Blue Jackets" was chosen to celebrate "patriotism, pride, and the rich Civil War history in the state of Ohio and city of Columbus."[57] When President Abraham Lincoln requested that Ohio raise ten regiments at the outbreak of the Civil War, the state responded by raising a total of 23 volunteer infantry regiments for three months of service. Ohio also produced a number of great Civil War figures, including William Tecumseh Sherman, Ulysses S. Grant, Philip Sheridan, and George Custer. Columbus itself was host to large military bases, Camp Chase and Camp Thomas, which saw hundreds of thousands of Union soldiers and thousands of Confederate prisoners during the Civil War.

a lot more patriotic than the Blueskirts, that's for sure.

Fun fun fun

Vacation in N.Y. between 2nd and 9th of jan. Rangers games here I come!
Dull. No Isles home games. Might go see a Devils game too and check the new arena. Anybody know is it a long sit in the bus from manhattan to the Prudential center? Is it a longer/shorter ride than to the old barn on the swamp?

edit. Found the info. Train seems to be the ideal transport.

From the East
Midtown and Lower Manhattan/Hoboken/Jersey City
By NJ TRANSIT
Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line trains provide daily service between Penn Station New York and Newark Penn Station, an approximate 17 to 20-minute trip. Prudential Center is a two-block walk from Newark Penn Station.

By PATH
Just minutes from Newark Penn Station, PATH provides service every 10-15 minutes for arena-goers from Manhattan, Hoboken, and Jersey City.
