I'm not even half done yet

So I don't even have the components installed yet. All I have done has been photografized and uploaded to the album

Though, it should be around 25dB, which is pretty much completely silent, once I get my Accelero S1.

Hope you're not planning to put some GTX280's (or other similarly long video card(s)) in there - I bought one for a build I did for a friend recently and, unless I'd've removed the HDD cage (which wasn't an option), it was about 5mm to small - It won't take the new over-sized PSUs either...

It will take the oversized PSU's, if you remove the fan in the lower cage.

I'm putting in a passive cooled 4850 and a normal PSU, so no worries

Yeah, true, with the lower fan removed, an oversized PSU will just about fit (leaving maybe an inch or so between the end of the PSU and the fan mount) - putting it in and (in my case) taking it back out is a squeeze though...

A 4850 is what, 9.25in or so?
If so, yeah, you should have a good inch or so space between the end of the card and the HDD cage.

Good luck on that, lol.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

as in a huge metal heatsink, without a fan.

DU: Gigabyte and another company have already made passive cooled out-of-the-box 4850's. Here is an example of a guy with a passive 4850. Yes, it's running at 50*c idle, but he isn't even close to my airflow (I have a "ducted" [via HDD cage] intake fan blowing straight at it at 1200RPM).

I think it should be fine, but if not, I have an extra Nexus to strap on to it, so it's no big deal.

50C idle equals over 100C load. My 3870 and S1 with plenty of airflow would reach about 120C and then shut the PC off.

Humm, I don't see why they would suggest that.

I will be primarily using it for general stuff, but there are no features/ missing features that would prevent it from been used in gaming.

However, I will say this....

Before the MX Revolution I was using a £7 Optical Mouse from Argos, and had been using it for the past 4 years. Recently, after finally becoming happy with the hardware in my laptop, ive upgraded the office with a KVM switch, keyboard, mouse, speakers, chair etc.

Since the last mouse was £7 I thought I would treat myself to the MX Revolution (£45 to those who arn't aware).

The mouse is fantastic, its cordless, rechargable, laser etc, and its comfy to hold, however I thought it would be somehow different to the £7 POS  I had been using previously- however it doesnt seem to be the case. At the end of the day, you move the mouse to point to something, and it moves there- no matter if it was £30, or £10.

I think what i'm trying to say is that the mouse is fantastic, however I don't see how its worth the £45 price tag.

It matters when you're gaming, i'm sure you can relate to that! But the obvious point about mice with high DPi is that you find yourself having to move your hand as much, i know it probably makes less difference in a low mouse usage environment, but it does make a difference in the long run. Also, try sticking an eXact mat under your mouse, biggest difference i ever noticed to a mouse was using that.

And surely the £45 price tags pays off in the convenience of no wires, good laser accuracy and comfort?

Guess I'll just buy a cheapy cordless one then.
I've got a g5 on order, but want to be using primarily a cordless mouse on my my laptop.

In other news, ordered these this morning.

Overpriced? yes...but I tried my mates pair, and it was like sex in my ears, thought I may as well while I was splashing out on my laptop.

Agreed.

I bought a standard Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer yonks and yonks ago, I use it for all things, from general use to gaming, and the only thing that other fancier mice have, that has ever made me think about replacing it, is selectable-DPI.

If you ask me, a mouse is a mouse is a mouse - as you say titch - you move it, the cursor moves - what more is really needed?
