Not really, in Ireland and the rest of the 1st world waitresses are paid minimum+ wage and tips are a bonus. A waitress in America needs the tips more than a European one as they can't afford not to have one, thus they do their absolute best to get said tip. I've been to America and went to a steak house and everyone working there was really happy and jolly. Here they'd be aT work, and probably just be watching the clock until home time...
