Irony or coincidence? I think the latter is more appropriate, though I did gather what you meant.Poseidon wrote:

Yeesh, I thought the minute people read what I wrote, they'd understand it... "prepare for the future"? "Survival Guide"?
I guess I overestimate your comprehension capabilities. http://forums.newyorkislanders.com/styl … ntknow.gif
Well, to be fair, you jumped on the "oh, he's got a post which may or may not be stupid, let me point it out, even though I'm wrong" train to start with.Flaming_Maniac wrote:

Way to jump on the insult train though.
...may or may not be. It had the potential to make an extremely interesting. Now I have to go pay $20 to see a dog fight.Poseidon wrote:

Vick's out already?
Anyways @ this whole thing - I really doubt we'd ever see anything that needs this unless things really hit the shitter.

All the pot in the world wouldn't make me as paranoid as the OP. Worse thing that happens is we lose a little in the standard-of-living catagory - to which I don't give a fuck to be honest, because I live pretty nicely.Kmarion wrote:

Is this like one of those zombie surival guides?
ATG what are you doing about electricity? Are you planning on getting (or have) a generator or are you just running on propane or whatever? Flashlights, radios, walkie-talkies and the batteries to complement, or Robinson Crusoe style?
I have generator big enough to run my fridge.Flaming_Maniac wrote:

Fifteen gallons of propane. New crops are planted. Ammo is being purchased. Body armor dusted off. Weapons cleaned.
I' not going overboard in preperation.
If I was unhinged I would empty my bank accounts.
Oh wait. The IRS did that.
Nah you can never, ever be over-prepared. Just wondering if you were planning on trying to maintain a large stock of batteries or if that's what these sites would recommend, it seems like they would be one of the most expensive and hardest to maintain.
If we have to resort to cannabalism I'm calling dibs on Rammunition. I've always pictured him as a short, chunky, tasty little fellow. But not in a gay way of course.
Malloy must go
It's not all paranoia. It's about being prepared. In case of emergency, the government isn't gunna give a shit about you or your family, that's if there is a government.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

in a prolonged scenario I think electricity will be a crutch. The sooner you can learn to survive without it, the better. You don't want to spend all your time maintaining your electricity supply.
I fail to see how the OP is scare mongering.
Use the info or don't.

I don't know what kind of batteries you buy, but both Energizer and Duracell do not advise this...ATG wrote:

Source.Duracell wrote:
Store batteries in a dry place at normal room temperature. Do not refrigerate DURACELL Batteries. This will not make them last longer. Most DURACELL Batteries will provide dependable long life even after 5 years of storage in these conditions.
Source.Energizer wrote:
DO practice proper battery storage by keeping batteries in a cool, dry place at normal room temperature. It is not necessary to store batteries in a refrigerator.
I remember a few years ago when storing batteries in the refrigerator was all the rage, but that time has past.

If you wanna fuck a cow around here you're either going to have to drive a few hours or go screw a steak. Besides, we might have limited water shortages...but at least we don't have to worry about a big ol' wall of it wrecking our stuff.
