Only five Solstice-class cruise ships will be produced, and the first one (aptly named Solstice) has just left port for the sea. Weighing approximately 134,000 tons, the Solstice is over 1,000 feet long and can hold 4,350 people (or about 3,000 paying customers). It's also among the first boats of its kind to have a grass area on the roof. For those who like to cruise around the world at 28mph with no means of escaping crying children or death-by-buffet, the Solstice will host its first passengers next month. Here are more giant shots of the aquatic beast:

If it does start going down, I hope they have enough lifeboats!

they could have put like a "smaller" "boat" inside that huge ship.

Nice, but I'd never go on a cruise ship.

Unless it had some sort of adults only policy. I'd consider it then.

I think that cruise ship has more height than water depth in the main oceans.

I need some scale.  How does that thing compare in size to a carrier?

It better have a Nuclear reactor, gas looks out of the question on that thing.

this would be a cool comparison, like, both of them docked next to each other.

A Nimitz carrier is something like 1100 ft long. They are comparatively sized, though clearly the cruise ship is taller.

Enterprise is the longest carrier but not the heaviest.
These super cruise ships DWARF the carriers in tonnage and height but there is a practical limit to how long a ship can be.
