You should be fine. Four years in college, by about which time everything will be better again!
how bout getting that loan for college though?
Doesn't matter when tertiary education is free, eh? Oops. That's one of the main root causes of the problem: society making it normal to rely on credit to do even basic things like going to college. Fundamentally flawed.

what a dottering idiot she is...  lol...

I think we are better off to let things fall where they may... then rebuild and try not to make the same mistakes again...
Well just watching, she managed to piss off the Republicans and the Democrats that were part of Bush's bills. She has been screeching about bipartisanship and everyone working together, yet in the first 30sec she is bashing Bush and Republicans.

Agreed. Although there's always the option of saving up for your kid to go to college, or getting a scholarship. The price of attending college is outrageous. That's partly why I'm not applying to the stupid Ivy League schools... I can still get a comparable education at a much better price AND have a better chance of admission in the first place.

Cheap money drives inflation. It's bad for capitalism. It creates bubbles. Capitalism cannot function without regulation, and that regulation is preferably socially responsible. One should hike interest rates to prevent the bubbles from forming - slow and steady wins the race.

No.

Let's assess blame.  It's more important than dealing with the problem.

My frustration "Nancy Pelosi was on the side of the American people today..."

Yes.  By showing affixing blame is more important than fixing the problem.

That's what I'm thinking about...

Title IV funds and other federal financial aid are seen by colleges and universities as money that is there for the taking. Tuition is set high enough to capture those funds and whatever else we think can be extracted from parents. Perhaps there are college administrators who don't see federal student aid in quite this way, but I haven't met them. But I don't mean to imply that college administrators are driven solely by profit maximization. One reason that many prefer sky-high tuitions is that it enables them to act as social engineers. The larger the income from tuition, the more money they have on hand for scholarships for students who cannot afford the tuition.
This is key to the failure as fucking college loans are second only to housing loans, many people finish 4 years of college and cant even find a job

Put it this way, if you had 1,000,000 invested in retirements, and the stock market drops 10%, you just lost 100,000 in one day

Was there an overwhelming reason the bill was shot down by so many?

If no package is passed the US will surely end up in recession.

Pelosi did a nice job of killing the bill she was advocating, it seems.

Notice that there were strong objections on both sides of the aisle...seems the bill wasn't that good for either side!

Recession is better then inflation imo. I'd rather see the U.S Dollar become more valuable in the global market, then less. If the $700 billion bailout passed, I'd be buying up silver dollars, dimes and nickels.

Edit: I just wanna add, now what can we do to actually MAKE money in this situation? Buy up foreclosed properties? Invest in other sectors of the market that went down because of the banking market? When can we figure out the bottom of the market, and when to invest again?
