The VP debate should be a little one sided.

To say the Couric interview was bad would be an understatement.

Is there any way to salvage this? or does the VP really matter in the voters' minds?

I seriously don't get it. I think McCain is a smart man. I may not agree with him but he's smart. To see him make such a poor choice for his VP candidate astounds me. She lacks experience (I'm not saying Obama's got a ton either), she's horrifyingly right-wing, and she isn't proving to be very bright. I imagine the VP debate will be a win for Biden, and it would have been a major victory for him had they not dumbed it down to make it work with the... less capable people in the room.

I mean shit, the Governator woulda been a better choice and he can't even run!

Palin is a worthless hick. Obama is at least intelligent, sharp and 'with it' - whatever about his policies (that's up to personal preference). The lesser of evils refers to the Republican Party whose presidency and domination of house and congress for much of the last 8 years has ruined the US economy with knock-on effects for everyone else and dragged the US' name through the mud to the point where American tourists often pretend they are Canadian.

So the answer is to give the other party the same unfettered power? The system works best when one party controls the Legislative branch and the other controls the Executive. Doesn't really matter which one, so long as they are different...otherwise, you get rubber stamps going both ways.
