I'm staying out of this one actually.  Most of OP is opinion, as well as the title "Doom".  There's no room left to debate, and I'm not willing to go "full retard" today.

It's a brilliant post from an earlier closed topic. http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=110460

There's not much difference between the two.  I would have perfered the closed topic over this one...links to references make me dizzy.
Almost every OP is opinion. And there's always room for a debate. Just say what you wanna say. Imho the rest is excuses.

As an American I seriously take in account other countries population Views. Cause as USMarine said the president is a figure head and someone that actually needs to be held in high regard by other countries. Respect is everything and when we have a president/vice president that most Americans can't respect, then how can we expect the rest of the world to take us seriously?

Poe has made a very valid point about the appearance of leadership is importance, a lot of our economy is based on peoples willingness to invest and it's questionable that McCains going to make the 8 years and her back ground as a human being. Clinton got impeached for a blow job(which was a personal matter, not a public one) and now half of you are defending a woman who has bigger questionable blotches on her record before she's even in office.

P.S. it's pretty much a Moot point because I hope that american's are smarter then to put us through four more years of what I like to call "the wait and see Government"

it became a public one when he perjured himself on the stand.  this was the reason he was impeached - not because he had sex (or not had sex as he says) in the oval office.  most people could give a shit less whether he had infidelity - it's the fact that he lied under oath.  honestly i don't blame him for getting the hummer.  hillary probably froze him out years ago

I mostly agree. Germany is the only country to invent the car - I have no idea what Britain supposedly has to do with it (same with the Jet engine).

Also, your point about advertising the Web is pretty much rubbish. Tim Berners Lee invented it at CERN (in Switzerland) to use at work. CERN liked it so much they promoted the idea and got it into mass scale usage. So the Web WAS invented in Switzerland (by a Brit) - but the Web is not the Internet (though it may be the more important concept in terms of the Internet we use today). But it's hard to say whether the Web or TCP/IP networks define the Internet as an overall entity better. I'd have to say that no one person or nation can really take full credit for the Internet (but some can certainly claim more than others and the US is certainly very, very high up on that list).

Yes but don't for a second think that DARPA were the only ones even close to making networks, there were lots of other people developing LANs at exactly the same time.

There was no one else who came up with good set of protocols straight up from no previous examples like Berners-Lee.

There also is no such thing as "the internet" its just a series of separate networks owned by different people connected with hubs.

DARPA didn't "invent" the internet either, they were simply the first to expand their own network.

That was my point. Indeed Berners-Lee didn't invent the internet, NO ONE did. DARPA did not invent the internet.

DARPA invented TCP/IP. Those protocols define the Internet pretty damn well (it called Internet Protocol Suite for fucks sake) - but the concept at the heart of the Web is equally important. Berners Lee may have had more vision than the guys at DARPA (and his current projects look very interesting and are brilliant concepts that could again redefine the way we use the Internet), but there is no denying that DARPA built the foundations for creating the network platform that the Internet uses/is.

Respect is earned (or lost) by actions, not preconceptions. And just what demographic are you referring to when you say "most Americans can't respect" when referencing a pres/vp? A pissed off Irishman on an internet gaming forum does not equate to "most Americans".

Nobody knows at this point, as neither ticket has said anything concrete about their positions. Just mud-slinging attack bullshit. Once...just once...I'd like to see a candidate explain why I should vote for them, vice why I shouldn't vote for the other guy. It's like a car salesman trying to sell you his car by tearing down the competition's product.

The world wide web =/= the Internet. Yes, the development of http was critical to the spread of the internet, but it did not (and does not) define it...the underlying protocols do (like TCP/IP, which was invented by ARPA).

Regardless, since Al Gore invented the damn thing, America gets all the credit.
