I disagree. It makes it more realistic - their first touch not being "perfect". It makes it for a more unpredictable game of football and it flows much better with attack and defence stances.

You should never feel confident in a game of football, you should always be on the careful side and have a plan B. If you can just think you can run straight through anyone ( just like in Pro Ev, dribbling is incredbly easy ), then it is not a game of football anymore.

I am no FIFA fan. I have every single PES game and no FIFA games, but this is going to be hard to top. I find player responsiveness incredible. I also find the ability to grab goals in the most difficult of situations really balanced. I can score 5 goals in Intermediate against R.Madrid with Chelsea. Which shows that if you know how to string together through balls and muscle out defenders with the bear of Drogba, then you can have a nice match in your hands. It took some getting used it, but it's epic.

I liked the demo, it's more suited to my style of play. I'm not really one of those dribble your way through everyone and score type of people, that's why I always fail at PES. Well, I was good at it back when PES wasn't like that. But since PES 4/5 it's been like that. Which sucks. I hope PES 9 isn't like that, otherwise I might get FIFA over PES.

I have no idea what majestics you expect from PES, but I sincerely doubt they are going to pull any of them off.

I am a PES fan, but PES09 just looks like 08.

yuck.  this sucks for PC.   same old crappy entrance and reactions.  same old sounds.  same shitty looking fans.  same stadium models.

but, better player movement and better grass.

i actually downloaded a bunch of mods for PES.  i love it now.  i have the real kits for teams.  facepacks and up to date transfers.  new grass textures.  new balls, gloves,  and boots.  new adboards that look like the video screen ones.  redone stadiums.

PES4 was the best PES. All of the others are either the same or worse.

FIFA '03 was a superb game. The free kick system is still the best one (choose where to hit the ball and the ball would curl depending on where you hit it). I wished EA Sports would put that system back into '09, that would have been awesome.

But from FIFA '03, it just got shit. FIFA '06 was the biggest cock up, it felt so slow and you could score from anywhere really. FIFA '07 was a major improvement imo. And then FIFA '08 just built on '07's success. '09 is even better, you can control how strong you want to pass the ball, the through balls seem a lot better now you can power up your pass, the shooting feels a bit different than '08, I don't know why, it just feels different. I also like how you can flick the RS button up and down and a player will do a different celebration depending on what sequence you flick the stick.

Still, I miss '03's freekick system, it felt so glorious when you scored a 25-yarder by curling it around the wall... I don't know how to take a freekick properly in the other FIFA's

The only problem with PES08 on the PC is the fact that it doesn't work properly on Vista. I can't play it.

If you can score 5 goals in a 4 minute game against Real then obviously its too easy

Yea, I played it any it's really good. Even though, I expected the game to be more responsive and to be able to use the D-pad for dribbling(PES style).

Having said that, I am practising the tricks, while they are easy to do in the Arena, when you're playing a match, it's fucking hard to do most of them, such as the Bicycle-Kick and Rainbow Flick, here is a guide:

I'm gutted with whats happening to PES as it used to be the true football fans game. I've been buying them since PES 3, but 08 was a monumental letdown and I was hoping for a big improvement this year.

Normally I wouldn't have even bothered as I've always thought FIFA to be a god awful game, but after reading the comments here I'm downloading FIFA now.
Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.

as of what I've seen so far.. I'll go with Fifa09

it has the Dutch Competition (dunno about PES)

only thing I'd miss in FIFA is the CL but whatever...

+ Adidas Live would/could be pretty cool.

Been playing the demo of fifa, its great, but one thing that bugs me is all the players seem to be the same pace. The 'fastest' strikers on the pitch are easily matched for pace by the slowest defender. Its annoyin when you should jus be able to sprint away from them once you get past but cant!

I'll probably rent FIFA. After NHL '08, I trust EA with sports games.

Huh? Have you played with Chelsea and Drogba? He outruns any defender and out-muscles anyone... I don't know what game you are playing, but on the 360 the faster players really are faster.

Spanish magazine Hobby Consolas is the first publication in the world to give an official verdict on PES 2009! Find the review score and actual scans inside!

Now obviously its all in Spanish, but its safe to say the ‘92′ at the bottom of the last page is easily translatible

So a fantastic start for PES 2009 then, we should know what PSM3 gave the game in the next few days. For now enjoy the news pics from the game, while we try our best to get you a full translation!

In the mean time, here’s a quick translation. Thank you to das1925 for this!

From the article:

- 8 different cameras, and each of them at 3 heights
- It also mentions that all 32 CL teams have full kits and names
- Players change facial expression when they lose the ball, they scream
- A.I. has improved very much according to the article
- The players are very much like the real counterparts
- Great illumination and weather effects
- 19 Stadiums
- 8 Players, 4 Online for regular match
- 7 players, 8 online for Become a Legend
- The Spanish commentators are great
- For kit editing, add images for Logos AND sponsors
- Share replays with friends through the Internet

The good:
“The Saga has reached a level of simulation that is hard to improve on”
“Smoother animations but Mechanical”

Conclusion:
“The Saga has made a huge step forward, although it has not yet found the ’sweet spot’ on the new consoles”
The Bad:
“The game engine is stuck on last year’s, with improvements”
“Fewer Licenses”

The general feeling of the reviewer is that aside the graphics and Licenses which are better in FIFA, the ‘legendary’ playability of PES remains.
It would be nice to have the review of FIFA that is in the same magazine.

Graphics: 90
Sound: 91
Longevity: 95
Fun: 92

Overall: 92

Lol zimmer, you make me laugh, anytime someone says a point you dont agree with you get angry.
Also, it may surprise you but the game I am playing is FIFA09. I play with real a fair bit, players like robben and robinho, both pretty quick, never seem to be able to outrun any of the centre-backs or midfield

I was just surprised at your comment. Yeah, I never noticed a difference in pace with Robinho or Robben, but Drogba is certainly faster... Then again, it's still a demo.

hmm, I played as chelsea, didnt really notice drigba being fast, strong yes. I hope they do make it more obvious, like in 07 and 08, fast players like ronaldo could glide past the slower defenders like he does in real life

I really don't understand this. PSM3 have reviewed PES09 and given it  88/100 whilst basically just saying how shit it was... It makes absolutely no sense.

Take note that they have only given an extra 2 points since PES08 ( which means they are an incredibly biased magazine and can't review for shit ). But anyway, here is the review.

All they do is say how similar it is to PES08 and how frustrating shooting is, yet they give it 88? I call bullshit.

They gave FIFA09 86, which is fucking unbelievable. I don't trust these guys, they are true PES fans and wont accept anything else.

I do get the feeling pro evo is being marked on its past glories, they say how little its changed, and the shooting has got worse. Which tbh, if it hasnt changed much from PES2008 and the shooting is worse, that would be a low 70s score to me!

I'm defo gonna be getting fifa, cos like you, I dont trust this review, many journalists seem to feel nostalgic about PES, compelling them to give it a good score, so even though I hate taking any notice of it usually, I'll check out the reviews in the sunday times, cos they usually dont feel an affinity towards any gaming brand

Oh BTW, you put pic 8 in twice n missed out 9

Oh, and new screens from PES09.... The players look truly awful. With Iniesta not even looking remotely like IRL and Xavi.... well... no comment.
As well as for the goalkeeper gloves... they are a true joke. I would have thought that by now they would have realised how shit and stupid they look....
