In earlier posts I argued that the Koran contained descriptions of Jews and Christians as apes and pigs. The individual with whom I was arguing thought that was OK because, after all, it's only the Jews, right? I hope that what he meant by that was that Israel is, as he sees it, the source of resentment among Arabs and Muslims. My point about the Koranic injunction to regard Jews, Christians and polytheists as dirty animals is that it predates the establishment of Israel by a vote in the United Nations by over 1000 years. In other words this is a hatred that cannot be excused by 20 century events.
On a side note: I don't support the Beth Din courts, I regard it as impossible for a nation state to cohere and remain a single entity if more than one legal system is in operation. This is why I oppose sharia courts whose judgements are legally enforceable in British courts. Which is the situation we have today. And, if you think that Muslim communities will not come under serious pressure to submit themselves to these courts rather than to British ones then you really do not have any understanding of modern Britain. More and more of criminal law will be dealt with by these courts over time and in fact the time will come, unless the situation is put right, when British courts defer to sharia courts in matters pertaining to Muslims even when judgements therein are in opposition to English law.
You have continually referred to the Koranic description of Jews and Christians as pigs and apes and yet continually fail to point out that these references are almost exclusively in Saudi-produced, Wahabist versions of the Koran. Wahabism is the real threat to peaceful co-existence with the Islamic community, not Islam. The US has right-wing Christian, neo-conservatism and the Islamic world has Wahabism, both are dangerous and violent ideologies but they are not indicative of the entire population of either region.
I don't support separate courts for separate minorities either but the fact is it does not effect us so who cares? The minute minority legal systems start imposing on your life then you should take to the streets to protest. And again I must stress it is only for civil law matters.
