100 million families own stock. Id say a lot of those people are middle class. So the whole 95% of america gets tax cuts, is bullshit. Taxing the rich  and not taxing the middle class is bullshit. The rich are the people who give jobs, so if these people are giving away half of what they make they arn't going to be hiring as much. I beileve in everyone getting rich from the ground up. Not a free lunch.
The rich also ship jobs to India and Mexico and Poland and China.
The rich also made no overhead on his small business last year and had to rely on personal investments to make his income. He actually gave raises to all the employees, while all other business's were laying off, even though he took a massive loss by doing so out of his own pocket. If my dad gets taxed by Obama and has the same year as he had this year. Hes closing the doors. It won't be breaking even, it will be taking a loss by doubling his taxes. therefore 40 employees will be on the street when no other companies are hiring/

So tax my dad.
And the bigger companies won't shut down.. they'll just export more jobs overseas.

Wasn't very wise giving raises to employees in the current economic climate. Rich people have millions of dollars, at least several hundred thousand, at their disposal - just to avoid any confusion over what I regard as a rich person. My dad has a business and employs labourers - he ain't rich. I'm talking about taxing a higher bracket than I think you are referring to.
I don't want to say what my dad makes between personal investments. But i'd say were doing well.

The point im making is if his business which broke even this year gets a double in tax then it will take a loss and my dads going to say fuck it and close the doors. Leaving 40 people jobless.

My dad will still be doing fine, very pissed off, but fine. but those poor people in the warehouse sure as hell wont. and well be cutting back on what we buy as other business's do the same and prices inflate.

My grandfather shits bricks when income tax comes around, if his income tax gets any higher, i have no doubt he will croak.

I was talking about income and profit in general, which that business isnt gettting. So those employees are soon to have NO income. but theyll have great free rationed healthcare.

small business's are a food chain, if the rich business's that he buys materials from get taxed, theyll just pass down the cost.

Talking about shipping overseas? Why do you think? Partly because of high taxes. We need to  encourage them to stay. how is it that taxing the corporations more were encourage them to stay here.

tax rebates here tax rebates there. CPA/MBA class lesson one is that corporations dont ever get taxed, the people, you and me, do/.

why arnt you there already they have great healthcare? you could have free housing too, where they put drug addicts with seniors in 1950's apartment highrises infested with cockroaches. Tax money at work.

you can walk down sidewalks paved with uneven asphalt, and weeds growing out of them. and they were working on a small highway 6 years ago when i was there, and this summer when i went back, they still arnt done.

Do you know what the libs are called in Ontario?
Pinochio.

I must admit the beer is cheap in Quebec though, I do like that.

Only downside to Canada would be that you would have to learn French.

Only if you're in Quebec. But from what I hear, Quebec is like it's own country.

Look up Ottawa Public Housing you might be able to find something it was a big big deal two years ago between canadian conservatives. They had storied of seniors coming home and prostitrues railing drug addicts in the halls with hypodermics laying arround. Terrifying the poor old lady.

And where i was (Gataneu) most of them speak english, enough to pass not great though. And its taught in public school. The signs are in french though which is a bummer and i drove around for an hour looking for staples which is actually called bureau en gros which i drove by like 5 times

Will cutting taxes cause people to invest in the one part of your economy that is dragging the rest of the economy down - the housing/construction sector? I think not. Not to mention the insolvency of banks right now. I would imagine it would be more beneficial to cut taxes, if at all, for those who who are middle class, hopefully spurring expenditure on luxury items, which in turn will instil confidence in investors to invest again, and to cut taxes on those in the problem bracket: the foreclosure brigade.

At the end of the day your country has to pay for FreddieMac and FannyMae and has a hefty national debt so I don't really think it's time to be handing out tax cuts.
After stocks, one of the key investment markets affected by capital gains taxes is real estate. So...yeah.

America has some of the lowest taxes of the rich western countries.

Increasing taxes to a level still well below the majority of other rich countries is claimed will destroy the economy by making all the rich people impoverished and forced to close down or leave the country.

By this logic, most of Europe must have no economy left, all the rich people closed their businesses and gave up or moved to China.

Go look at the last few decades of average wages, earnings for the top few percentage, corporate profits, inequality etc. the rich in the US can easily afford to pay a few percent more in taxes. If US businesses can't survive without Bush's tax cuts, how did they manage to survive prior to Bush's tax cuts.

Here's another way to look at tax cuts: If you drop tax rates the rich don't need to invest more money making more jobs because they've just become richer without bothering with that. If you increase taxes they need to expand in order to get back that money.

Cutting taxes is going to magically reinstil confidence in the property market - as banks and lending institutions fall by the wayside by the week? What is going on here is a market correction. Letting the market correct itself before fuelling any more bubbles should be priority number one. Time for a clean slate.

Over 98% of the banks in the US are adequately capitalized. You are making the mistake of seeing reports of half a dozen or so banks going under and thinking it's reflective of the entire industry. Granted, some of them are large, but even at that, they are not representative of the market as a whole.

I fully agree that letting the market correct itself is the right way to go. But increasing capital gains taxes will make real estate look even less enticing than it does right now, with its (relatively) lower entrance costs.
