Palin doesn't know shit about foreign policy, current or otherwise, but she sure can dance like a politician.

They're better off looping the stock footage of her shootin that AR and gutting caribou.

Is it sad that I knew what the Bush Doctrine was even though I have never heard of it before?

She seemed rather incompetent in several areas in her responses:

Russia / Eastern Europe;
Support of Israel;
Support of preventive (and illegal) warfare (aka Bush Doctrine; National Security Council documents);
General sense of narrowmindedness and downright scary attitudes/approaches.

Some of the statements she made almost seemed like something straight out of Leo Strauss' book of neoconservatism. Far too much blind-patriotism with all this "stop the terrorists that will destroy America!" rhetoric and all the rest of this tiresome bullshit. I know it's (just after) the anniversary of September 11th but do we honestly need to be constantly patronised with this utterly contemptible and risible bullshit all the time? Do the American public really willingly swallow and agree with all this scaremongering now, after seeing what has developed over the last few years?

I despair.

My dad will often say that the most frightening President was Reagan - during the escalation in tensions of the Cold War years.

Nope I think we should ignore the threats, ya know like we did in the 90's. No "scaremongering" during the blessed 90's, but of course, the decades BEFORE 911, had nothing to do with 911 itself. It came straight outta left field. I am sure WTC'93 was nothing, after all only like 4 people were killed, so yeah, it is all scaremongering. Lets all just continue our blissful content little lives and pretend no one wants to destroy America, and everyone loves us. I will start, CUMBIYAH MY LORD, CUMBIYAH........Now EVERYBODY.CUMBIY............yer not singing..

Big difference, first of all, in the 90's, we ACTUALLY caught the guy responsible.  Far more than we've done now, in your blessed 21st century, where we've ignored who attacked us, and turned our sights on our president's father's enemy, and then had the audacity to claim victory of any kind.  All those lives lost in the towers, are probably spinning in their graves over our willingness to forget who really attacked us.

Oh for God sake.

Yes a lot of people died on 9/11. Yes it was the biggest most shocking most extravagantly-live-news-awesome event of all time. We've heard all this one hundred times before, people keep leaning on all this sympathetic emotional bullcrap far too often in order to defend their political leaders and the utter nonsense that they spin. If any of you really believe that Sarah Palin isn't deluded in her contorted view of geo-politics and perceivable "threats", then you also are far beyond hope. Does America really need another Neocon-esque paranoid politician in the White House with this whole 'preventative war' prerogative? I can't see anything constructive or useful coming from a woman that views Russia as a threat to Alaska, who backs Israeli attacks on Iran (akin to putting a stick into a wasp's nest), and who thinks it's acceptable to go marching into one of the most insecure and dangerous nuclear-armed states in the world today (Pakistan). Quite plainly, the Bush Doctrine - as it has been dubbed - is an illegal policy when looked at in light of all legislation and law surrounding the concept of a 'legal war'. Especially when you have these crazy-ass politicians that think out there in dark-rooms are Arabian men with nuclear bombs deciding on which US city to strike.

And there's a discernable difference between reading an autocue and being politically/publically incompetent? Riiight...

Iowing I'm not saying you should ignore threats. But America's perception and credible intelligence when it comes to 'threats' is a bit squiffy. Which is why Palin bragging up the Bush Doctrine makes me nervous. You can't have trigger-happy politicians from a hardcore Christian-American background in control of a country operating on the back of a policy that states "America will go to any length's necessary to preserve national safety". I'm not just talking post-9/11 in my criticisms here either... how many times did you bomb random paracetemol factories in Africa under Clinton because they were "bomb facilities", killing hundreds of civilians. How many times did you bomb schools and civvy-buildings in Bosnia and Africa? Blue friendly-fire in Iraq? You guys suck at determining who are the bad guys, come on! And yes my anecdotal and hyperbolic evidence rebuts your beliefs! Aha!

An experienced politician or TV speaker wouldn't be so foolishly lured in by leading-questions.

Her own amateur approach let her down, not his predatory reporting style.

Your clip didn't include her response prior to the Bush Doctrine remark.

Combating terrorism with hope and pointing out the minority of believers in the terrorist camp? Geez,  I would have thought the libs would have appreciated that.

I think it was the actual term that stumped her (she was either nervous or thrown by Gibson’s demeanor). It wasn't as if she was unaware of the policy all together.
