That's not a systematic rank. Like you just said, only 1 person has it at a time, it's not like you get a certain amount of points and are promoted.

But i guess EA/DICE lowered the requirements, so that you must fulfill other requirements to obtain the new ranks....and the LAST ranks can be hold by one single person at a time (Colonel?).

I just tore apart the new files from EA, and I hate to say it, but there is no rank higher than that "butter bar" -- that's it for right now. I am certain that EA will add more in the future, but right now that's it.

I don't know about you but I think this whole new ranking system is stupid. Before, you'd see a staff sergeant or a gunny and be "OMG WOW! That guy has no life, but damn he's good." Now, every fool with a heartbeat is a master sergeant. Seems like First Sergeants are the new "Sergeants". Follow the diamonds!

I think they haven't been implimented into the patch, but the new ranks will be uploaded soon. They planned for everyone to be all ranked up, so they are putting in some new ones. The bar just isn't full yet because they haven't updated the stats, and i know that for a fact because I had the same number of gold medals, and I didn't get the medals I earned today ingame yet, and that was hours ago. So wait til everything is all updated and then we will see. I don't think they are going to put that rank in just for you to look at and not get. also, I don't think you can be a general of the army, because the ranking system in the game is based off the Marines, and everything else is based off them. (Clothes, weapons, etc.)

The only way a person can get the GOA is if there is a war going on..Also the game combines Army insignia's and the Marine insignias becuase the marines are red and green when it come the the enlisted personel but in the game its gold and black which is the army, which confused me.. and yes we have had five star generals after the 80's and no we still use that rank
Also they shouldnt of added officer ranks becuase in real life they would be commanding more people when in the game the most ppl u'll have is 32(in the team) which is about 3-4 squads(8-10ppl) and the commanding officer of a squad is Staff Sargent. And Lieutenants command Platoons which is 4 squads. so the commander in the game should be called lieutenant. but no its only a game so ya..

Your absolutely right, Sargent Major should be the highest rank because it is the highest rank that enlisted marines can recieve (I believe that I am right about this?). Perhaps that is why it was the highest for a long while and perhaps EA is planning on creating some-type of officer school for the expansion? Even if EA said that they were, I would be absolutely shocked if they actually included it.

As for a 5 star general, there has never been one in the Marine Corps. I think that they can make that position with an act of congress, but it has never been done. Normally, 5 star generals commanded allied forces rather than just United States Forces. For example: Patton was a four star general and commanded United States soldiers, Eisenhower was a 5-Star General and was the Supreme Allied Commander.

I may be wrong about all of the this, but this is what I remember...

Well you are half right and half wrong about Sergeant Major being the highest enlisted rank but it is actually Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps. Yes, both are at the pay grade of E-9 along with Master Gunnery Sergeant but there is only one Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps. Think of it as the head General of Enlisted Personel.

You were right about the 5 Star General. It has to actually be decided by the Commander In Chief and there has never been one in the Marine Corps. The President could very well if he wanted make a Marine General, Navy Admiral, or Air Force General a 5 Star General (or Admiral) but it hasn't been done. All 5 Star Generals have come from the Army. Oh yeah and Patton became a 5 Star General later because he was in charge of all troops in Germany and the occupation of Germany. MacArthur was a 5 Star General of the Pacific. It really all depends on how the President wants to split them up.
