I know this probably has been said, but once you get the hang of it, its actually quite easy.
I shoot down a few choppers a day that way.
And yes I'll share a few pointers

I tried doing it once and it keeps spinning out of control on me LMAO i cant do it . I hit the radio tower before i hit any chopper.
Thats one way to do it, this way requires timing. I only use this way when I'm hovering and see something.
When I'm not doing that (and here comes the thing you might want to try) fly the chopper
forward at a good
speed - then the chopper
wont induce a spin (or not a huge one anyways). This makes it much more
reliable and
controlable.
a few small notes.
§1 It helps if you are trained in the use of TV-Guided missiles in general
§2 Have good ground clearance (fly high).
§3 Have some quick fingers when switching between gunner and pilot seat (
F2 and
F3), cuz if you miss, your dex. with your fingers might buy you enough time to get a second shot
§4 There is an extra benefit when you sit in the gunners seat. AA's and jets
cant lock on to you when you are soloing in the gunners seat (and any lock will be lost if you jump down there - although a locked missile which has been released will hit you). This is very handy (especially) in critical situations. partial credit to
1sfg-ronln because he reminded me of this (2 post down).
although it is becomming harder to do this in the new patch with the greatly reduced radius of the missiles.
Have fun and
GL-30 with it
Over and out "Z"
