Well, odds are you need to do something specific to gain some of the awards, even with the new ranks. So, if someone got the MEC ribbon, maybe they just needed to play a full round as MEC before getting it? Odds are it'll be the same for veteran badges, the hours requirements are lowered (or removed) and we'll slowly get the new badges as we get XX kills in a round, or XX heal points in one round, etc...

I just checked my roommate's stats (I'm at work, he's at home playing 1.03 right now, the bastard) and looks like he got both the MEC and China ribbon too... He's got 20 hours for MEC and 15 hours for China.

I just got the ribbon too! But actually i got it even before i downloaded the patch. I got it when i hitted 10000 global points mark.

No, the only requirements for it are "time in service" (global time) and "time in theatre" (total hours on mec maps and china maps respectively.) There is no requirement at all for being in a specific army. 250h was correct before the 1.03 patch, now we have absolutely no clue what the new time requirements are.

You recieved the service ribbon under the new requirements as some sort of a glitch on EA's part I assume. A few weeks before the patch officially released there were countless people recieving high ranking awards long before being anywhere near the old requirements.

OK, I figured one thing out about the service ribbons. Well, obviously, you gotta play as that team to get the ribbon. Big surprise, eh? But I think you get it when you win a round... That's why you aren't seeing it show up, it only awards it to you once after a round is over, so there's no way to award it in game.

I just tried it tonight. Won a round as chinese (kept playing). Checked my stats 15 minutes later, sure enough, chinese was showing up, but not MEC. I then played again as MEC, won a couple rounds this time (weee?) and sure enough, MEC ribbon shows up.

So, there's Time in Service, but you'll only see the ribbon show up at the end of a round in which you are on the winning side.

FYI, the time in service I had was:

MEC 15:30:17
CHINA 08:44:26

I got the mid east and far east ribbons after i loaded the patch (on 5 oct ) and i only had 5000 pts and only 30 hrs as mec and 24 hrs as china.

People can't seem to understand these ribbons. They are awarded for Time in Theater. Add up all the hours you spent on maps in the Middle East, and that's your total. Then add up all the maps for time in the Chinese theater, and that's the other total.
