i listened to the interview and i don't see where everyone is getting patch 1.5 from.he simply said an "update",which i'm assuming is the map...Phrozenbot wrote:

but who knows,i could be wrong.
They just want people to keep BF2 installed (or reinstall it) a wee bit longer on their PC, in hopes they will be tempted to still play it.
That makes no sense.Phrozenbot wrote:

EA already got your money when you bought the game.
Releasing a patch now doesn't change anything, whether you have the game installed, play it or use the disk as a beer coaster.
The only thing that could get EA any more money would be new customers that buy the game solely to get to play with the new "1.5 patch".
And I doubt that anyone is doing that if he can soon play BF Heroes for free.
If DICE are delivering a new patch, they're probably only do it because of good will.
What I think is that EA (and many other large companies) are focusing more on the game console market with their big releases.
That's why they make a BF Heroes for the PC free and that's why they're still supporting the old BF titles. (BF2142 has gotten its 1.5 not long ago too.)
Just my €0.02 though.
If people play BF2 less it means less "ranked" servers (server providers pay an extra premium for), and therefore less money, unless I am mistaken. It makes perfect sense.
After all the griping in the forums about the 1.4 patch for a year and a half, I'd expect them to try to win back "soldiers" (*cough customers *cough). And after COD4, they need to rebuild their fanbase and get ready for E3 (where Bf3 might premiere).globefish23 wrote:

Also, how much money does it take to make a new patch? I would think spending a couple grand on a patch (correct me if I'm wrong) would make up for sales of millions of copies of BF3. And that would go a long way moneywise.

Is it EA? That's not a good source.[TUF]Catbox wrote:

Well they did with the other patches after 1.12, so there's a good chance they nerf some more stuff.JetSniper wrote:
