Can't see them being declared illegal, but still pretty lol
I think it's the same here in Iceland.konfusion wrote:
Last time I checked (and my uncle works for SUISA, the music copyright company of Switzerland) you were allowed to download FRACTIONS of files, but not the entire thing. Thank god we are not in the EU. I hope it stays that way.
Tbh they would have a hard time in court when Mozilla and Skype sued the crap out of them.
Doubt it will happen.

nope, just had a seminar on that subject. According to the courts and teachings, downloading is completely legal. Uploading or passing something along is illegal. i.e. personal use only, no distributing.konfusion wrote:

Limewire and Torrents are problematic (to what degree uploading only parts is illegal is rather disputed), rapidshare and usenet are legal as long as you don't make the data available to someone else.
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
Just point a water gun at them and they'll give the EU back..Sup wrote:

Why cant they just shut down the big torrent sites if they dont clean up their downloads? Or something along those lines? I mean, ffs thePIRATEbay hasnt been shut down, and Im sure its entirely illegal shit
Because those sites aren't breaking the law. It's the content being uploaded / streamed by the users that's illegal. They are simply a service, nothing illegal. Secondly, some of those sites are hosted in countries like Russia where they don't have laws on copyright infringement. Thirdly, if they wanted to chase the individuals uploading the illegal content, they need to follow laws of privacy, which stop them from prosecuting. It's a moot point.Wallpaper wrote:
