Hey fellas,  After reading some of the posts I've noticed quite a few of us are or where in the military.  I'm putting this up to identify my fellow vets and active duty.  Please give let us know what service you where in, what country, and a description of what you did in the military.  If you where never in the military please don;t post.  Just trying to see who all here was in.

I'll start off.
I was in the US Navy.  I recently seperated last Nov after 8 years.  When I got out I was a E-6 or First Class Petty Officer.  I was a Nuclear MM1(SS).  Another words a first class machinist mate subsurface qualified.  My job consisted of supervising engine room operations, repair to the engine room and reactor plant, and pretty much whatever else they wanted me to do.  I spent about 4 years of that time station onboard the USS San Juan...SSN 751 which was homeported in Groton CT.  I was over in the med region when the WOT started that involved the war with Iraq.  After that I spent a 3 year stint on shore duty repairing subs in Groton and finished up as the LPO of my shop.  If you have any sub questions feel free to ask.

Any U.S. Tankers out there know Neil Prakash?  I think he was with Avenger company...
He had a blog up for quite some time detailing out his duties at http://avengerredsix.blogspot.com, also known as Armorgeddon.  The military didn't like what he was doing and made him bring his blog out of the public eye and into a part of the Net that only military personnel can read.

It was awesome reading about what he and his comrades were going through in Fallujah and Baghdad, and he was a really good writer.

I was in the U.S. Navy (The Greatest Navy in the world).
Went to Great Lakes Naval Training Center for basic training.
I was a GMT3 (Gunners Mate Tech) then they changed to rating
to GMM (Gunners Mate Missiles). Was a gnats ass away from 2nd class

I worked on ASROC Mk16 Mod 8 Launching System.
Was stationed aboard the U.S.S Elmer Montgomery FF 1082 (Hence my name elmer1082).
Did TAD aboard U.S.S. Missouri BB 63 right out of Gunners Mate C-School.
Mighty Mo was getting refitted for modern warfare at the time. I wish I would
have chosen her instead of the Monty, when I look back at it all. But i wouldn't
trade the experience for anything.

I fuck with my capt. all the time... we go back and forth trying to dog each other out, he usually wins cuz I have to hold back cuz of those damn bars.  I do a damn good impression of him though.  Its funny seeing his ribbons and our ribbons.  We have like 3 rows and he has like 2 ribbons.

Joined the Canadian Army in 83, spent the next 6 years in the armour corps serving with Lord Strathcona's Horse LdSH(RC).  Spent 3 of those years sitting in the gunners seat of the AVGP Cougar and the Leopard 1.  Left the military, went back to school and now work in the aviation industry building warbirds.

The Finnish Air Force II/2003 - II/2004, sergeant. A year doesn't seem much when looking at your deployments, but it felt like it lasted for ages. Can't really tell what I did there, though
