i want one. what are some cool breeds, and where are some good places i can find full-bred pups? i don't want a dog from the pound because i want to be with it from the youngest age possible, and those pound puppies are always crazy as hell. have any of you ever found a dog online, or should i just look for local sources?
didn't you have a dachshund
edit: Weimaraners are an amazing breed but they're fucking tough to train if you're not good at it.

I find that puppies are good as long as you get a good handful!,mmmmm puppies
Do you want a big dog, medium, or small dog?
I have a small bichon shitzu (posted her in the pet thread) and she's awesome.
If you want a bigger dog, I would probably get a golden lab.

i guess medium-sized. i can't stand those little long-haired dogs (no offense). i'm not against a bigger dog, but medium-sized would be more practicalRyan wrote:

those things are little bitches. my friend had one; it was a bitch. my grandparents have one; it's also a bitch. those dogs bite more than any other dog i've ever seen or heard of.haffeysucks wrote:

My dog has fairly short hair, easy to maintain. And her nose isn't pushed in either, it sticks out :pEye-GiZzLe wrote:

Any dog can be crazy if the owners don't know what they are doing. I have seen some pretty wild pooches come from breeders.
I doubt you will take my advice but:

I rescued a bloodhound a couple months ago @ 4 months. Today she is well balanced and very sociable. You just need to spend time with them. Same goes for virtually any dog.

Sure they are adorable, but my neighbors have one and it sounds like it's dying when it get's excited and attempts to bark. For the first little bit we thought they were beating it.

DO IT FAGGOT
a dalmatian is fine too.
edit: If you want a pure-bred you might wanna look into rescue organizations for breeds you're interested in.

Mah gf got a ridgeback, very expensive - but hell of a dog.
We rescued a black lab when he was about 3 weeks old, one of the smartest, most loyal dogs we have ever had. He wouldn't run away if he had the chance, we let him out all the time with no leash (to get the paper, the mail and such) and he is always more than ready to go back inside. He knows he's got a pretty good deal going on.
I had a scoutmaster who also rescued an older dog and that dog loved him for it. I have never seen a dog be so loyal, it would follow him everywhere he went.

I remember when i wanted a dog...
Wanted a Beagle too. But got a couple of cats from a rescue place instead. Only times its not worth it is when they catch something, like this MASSIVE Magpie this morning when i was eating cherries. Blood everywhere, and it was still alive for about a minute, then it gave that final twitch and went still.
