Well?

Personally CoD4 has brought my mfps experience to a higher level. Never before had I played a game with such intense action, diversity and casual gameplay. No need to be a '20 hours per day gamer' to have fun in this game. No bitching and whining about vehicles that are 'stolen'.
Many divers maps, weapons and tactical play styles.

The only thing still bugging me, are those kids with admin rights. Putting a halt to my M203 killing spree's.

So what are your thoughts?

Let's keep this mature, as this topic will be moderated. See it as the style of discussion/general talk that will be required on Trackr .

i say "All of the above"
because the gameplay is fast and intense

a person with rank 10 could EASILY kill a person who has prestige 10 rank 55
it is an extremely easy game to get the jist of
when i started playing, it took me 30 mins to adjust to the gameplay style and intensity

and i never looked back

Imo, all its done is let the thousand of 15 year old PS3/Xbox owners to think they own a completely easy game, and give them rights to brag non stop.. pisses me off

I chose Arcade Style Gameplay, it's a game I can just play randomly, but not for very long. I think it ha definately set new heights in terms of Graphics for an FPS, but that barely matters for games these days..

It has proven that if a game isn't broken, you can fuck it up completely and get hordes of 12 year olds to buy it.

IMO the airstrikes, uav, and helis detract from the game so much, and the perk system allows for people to score loads of points without using any strategy or thought.

CoD2 was amazing, CoD:UO was even better, but CoD4 is absolute shit.

ease and intensity

I can play CoD4 for 35 minutes and feel fulfilled, no 3 hour long session of BF2 to get the same results

It set the bar for superb graphics that runs on most machines, no need to have the supercomputer of next decade to get a really good looking and running game.

Apart from that, game play is nothing revolutionary. I don't think anything new has been showcased at all, and the game play is CoD2 again...which isn't to say it isn't good, it's just not something to write home about.

So Trackr was made to keep the BF2s kids out as BF2s has run rampant because topics were selectively, or not at all, moderated. At least that's how I read it, but only because I've said it before.

That aside, CoD4 to me has set a new arcade style gameplay benchmark but not in a good way. It's pure mayhem. With the "Smart Spawning" (how witty, an ironic historical allusion...) flanking happens all on it's own and you don't have to worry about grenades because regardless of what you do, there will be one up your ass in an instant. But we have to consider that this game was balanced for consoles, and if you play it on a console or in a low player server it's very fun. It's not historical, but it's enjoyable and worth the purchase. You could say it was ported very well, I never noticed an excess of glitches...

All of the above . COD4 is a "genetically superior" game, it rocks in terms of infantry battles.  beats BF2 like a crazzy stepchild.

Well, after playing CoD4 after a few months, I really suck at the multiplayer.
I feel like I can't go anywhere or I'll get shot. I have to stick to servers with 20 or less people.

I'm tired of the guns, either it's just me, or they can't hit very much at far distances (P90, MP5, etc).
Other people manage to perfect these guns, which pisses me off.

I just find that the multiplayer is a bit frustrating and I hope CoD5 is better.

To bad CoD4 has no diversity what so ever at all. Each round is the same.

^^ My first night after playing the game...

But tbh, it's not a very intense game. It's mostly camping, nade spamming, noob tubing, noob perks...

I'm not sure if it's done anything as far as raising the bar or bringing things to a new level, but it definitely aims (and hits) high.

I especially love the intensity and the arcade style. It's easy to sit down and play a few rounds and feel instantly satisfied. I also enjoy how much action there is because of how fluid the maps are (except for the new ones, I hate the new ones). It's a very well-designed game, and something that other developers can use as a great example.

I believe that the game has not set anything higher level. However, I do believe that this is one of more solid games that I have played competitively and was genuinely satisfied with.

One thing that I have major complaint is that the game is originally designed to house small number of players per map. Also, on PC version, many public servers seem to set its player limit pretty high meaning it becomes cluster fuck pretty fast. But private servers or small servers seem to do well.

No way. A server has to have at least 20-30 people before there is any intensity. Otherwise you're left hunting for players, most of which are camping with claymores, which makes for a very boring, slow-paced game.

SP was one of the best I have played... ranked up there with COD1 the first time I played that.

Multiplayer is on par with just about every other FPS MP game out there except the physics are much better than BF2.  I like that I can shoot someone in the head and they actually go down.

I do find that playing realism mods in COD4 is as close to real combat as I've seen in a game.

None of the above.

Call of Duty 4 is a good game, it's a great game in fact. But like many, I played it for months and months and then just sort of stopped. It was brilliant when I played it, but I just don't have the 'want' to go and play it anymore. And to be perfectly honest, I know why: ranks. They were far too short.

Battlefield 2 - quit - First Sergeant (30k gap and interest was faining out + morons more active)
Battlefield 2142 - quit - Brigadier General (I actually stopped playing the day I got the promotion - I played once or twice in the after-months)
Call of Duty 4 - quit - Commander (not much to play for, I like achievements)

It's not a nice thing to admit but ranks keep it going for me, and I have lost my interest now. I did play the single player campaign again recently and it was great, but not fantastic. This is why my interest has reverted to Team Fortress 2.

Graphics, Intensity and Accessibility.

Tons of people bitch about how many idiots play it (12yr olds) etc, but guess what - Activision is a company. Companies like money. More accessibility = More money.
