I'm looking at a bunch of cars for my first one. I was originally looking at a motorcycle, but with Long Island's weather I decided it's not worth it. So, here are the choices:

'71 Chevelle:

'71 Challenger

'69 Camaro

Any other classic cars (I'll be restoring them so they won't look like the pics obviously) you'd like to suggest, go for it...but these 3 are what I've narrowed it down to.

Meh...not really. Limit's around 17K. My dad's paying for $7500 of the car, I'm paying the rest.

But if you cant do that, get the Challenger.

Depends. A car that old with all of the original equipment restored can command $30-$100USD+ dpeending or how rare it is.

Custom mods and modernization will drop the price dramatically.

Hot damn.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Tru … 14372&

I could restore that thing for $4,000. Not much needs to be done on it.

That's fucking awesome. All I'd do is (I see a red door and I want to) paint it black and get rid of all the rust.

I'm now getting an idea of how much this is going to cost, and it ain't too shabby tbh.

you should look for a cleaner body.  the rust on that car is way worse then the pictures show.  if you only put 4000 into that car it would be a rusty mess again within 2 years.  and no sand blasting does not remove rust. the only thing that removes rust is panel replacement.  end of story.  i own a body shop so im not just talking out my arse here.    maybe you could do it for 4k if you are a body tech.   but after doing it for 20 years Iwouldnt touch that car for myself or a customer.

I have wanted a 69 camaro for a long time.  but after seeing how most of the bodies are rusty piles of shit. or crapily restored former piles of shit. I'm just going to get the new camaro when it comes out.  it's designed off of the 69 body and will have a modern suspension instead of crappy 60's stuff. sure you can update all of the suspension. that was my plan. but by the time you get done you could buy the new one

look in places like arizona and texas for a cleaner body. but 69 was the only year they were produced so it's tough to find one thats going to look good for more then a couple years unless you want to spend 20k or more.
