apparently this game doesn't require a cd key to play online. hint hint
Logitech makes cheap crap, I have owned multiple DFP's and I have had to fix the pedals in each of them... Even the G25 has problems with the cheapness of its shifter. I own way too much logitech, and while my DFP is working good now the only product from them that I have been really happy with from them is my wireless mouse.(T)eflon(S)hadow wrote:

Saitek makes great products, based on experience, not perception. Saitek > Logitech any day
That said I have felt and messed with a lot of different wheels. First off, just at that price your only really finding basic entry level crap. The DFP which is the minimum of not being crap was sold @ $150
Wheels with only 280* are crap unless you only play F1 or rally games.
Those pedals, while cool for being top mounted like that look incredibly flimsy and I can almost guarantee you that the springs are very weak.
Saitek does make good products, but their lower level products do not have a solid feell, something you really want in a wheel...
What does the fact that its a jpeg have to do with the build quality, Its a fairly cheap wheel designed to be a fairly cheap wheel. It may not be THE cheapest but it is designed to compete against them.... I don't care who makes it.
How much experience do you have with this wheel?
They make good products, but are HARDLY > Logitech. Only in the Joystick section I'd say they are.(T)eflon(S)hadow wrote:

My 2 cents--
I've almost beaten the game, I have only the GT1 left in Global Racing League left to beat. Doing that tomorrow morning. On PC, of course.
So:
1. Touring cars--realistic, fun. You can't just speed all the time and never slow down. You will crash and burn. You can hit other people fairly hard, and you'll be fine, which is a plus at those 180 degree hairpins where all 20 cars are trying to get out first. Plus, the cars are very stable. A fun mode, a bit too easy for my liking, and the leagues don't include DTM.
Verdict: 7.8/10
2. Pro muscle/tuned/touge--realistic, amazingly fun. I'm a huge fan of oversteering/sliding around corners, so this is one of my fav. modes. Your car can take a disproportionate amount of damage though. One problem; the AI cars slow down at random monets, causing crazy crashes. Overall, a good mode, not too hard for beginners and yet challenging on the harder settings for veterans. Epic battles will occur, with slight shoving/bashing and general tight drifting around lots of 90-degree corners. The touge mode is epic. There's nothing as addicting as racing down narrow mountain roads, without hitting your opponent, at night and with traffic in the way.
Verdict: 9.3/10
3. Open wheel--IMO, the hardest category. The cars have amazing traction, but are waaaay to resilient. I mean, I've bashed my tire into someone else, and no damage ensued. Furthermore, when you cantact another car's wheels with your wheels, all that happens is a "tchunk". However, the AI is fast-quite fast in fact. Make sure you have enough distance to enable emergency avoidance.
Verdict: 6.6/10
4. Drift/drift battle/downhill drift/freestyle drift: By far my favourite. The drift scoring is extremely well calibrated, and the physics of your car is also exquisite. My PB: 39x combo, 38 million points. The pleasure you get from using the e-brake and turning that wheel around is simply unreal. And seeing that smoke...'nuff said. The fact that you lose your points if you hit anything is awesome, too.
Verdict: 9.7/10
5. Prototype/GT1/GT2/Endurance: Meh. This kind of racing doesn't appeal to me as much. The physics are good, and the AI is skilled. That's all I can appreciate with that mindset.
Verdict: 7.1/10
OVERALL: The damage physics are messed up; there's no way your car could go as fast without a windshield as it could with. And, when you hit the guy in front of you's tail at 120 km/h, you will get damaged. I like the fact that most sponsors demand that you get no damage though--it makes me drive more realistically, not as breaknecklike. Mind you, that distinction between "scratching the paint/wrecking your bumper and airdam" and damaging critical parts is good. Otherwise, there would be absolutely no contact, and that's boring. The flashback system is cool, too. After you've done 3 laps of Le Mans, and you're in first in your class, and you look at the time for half a second, get distracted--WHAM!!! Oops, there's a wall there. Thank goodness for that. However, the number of circuits is disappointing. That, combined with the fact that you only get one teammate, is kind of depressing. However, unlike most racing games, you do get to run your team. that's nice. I'd like to be able to tweak my car though--that'd make it more unpredictable.
The physics are balanced, the sound is original and well-thought-out (mind focuses; no engine noise). It's not a pure racing sim, but it's not an arcade either. On a scale of 1 to ten, ten being full-out sim and one being Mariokart, I'd give it a 8.2.
OVERALL VERDICT: 8.8/10
--GET IT IF YOU CAN--
Also, if you can get a Logitech G25 or the like, do so--it's awesome. The shifting is good, but the rotation is only 180.
Good job to Codemasters for a success.

I like pie.
Sorry for dragging up an old thread, but this is the result of search. If there is another thread for this game please point it out, otherwise....
I bought this game back when it was on sale for $5 and i'm going to be playing it tonight for the first time. I'm going to be using an xbox 360 controller. Just wondering if anyone had any advice for me. The last racing game I played was need for speed underground 2. Thanks!
