this book "Guns, Germs and Steel" by Jared Diamond basically explains why the Europeans dominated. I know most of you are probably wondering what a book is, but this basically answers the questions you're asking. Part of the reason was the favorable geography and climate in Europe. Europeans also honed their warrior skills by fighting amongst each other for thousands of years.

I know what you mean, but the world makes enough food each year to feed the world several times over. The food however is only distributed within the countries that can afford it, and so within those countries literally huge amounts go to waste. I'm not saying ship this stuff all to Africa though, by doing so you would be undercutting their local economies and taking away their ability to develop.
