When I inherited it, it was totally shot. There had been a leak, and the entire mechanism had corroded. So now it's got new innards. Cost me a fortune to get repaired though.

I have that one and some Timex that I had before I got this one...but it just sits in a drawer.

That picture looks real weird though, all the coloring is brightened....the face actually looks closer to black, and the gold doesn't stand out as much.

I had a really nice (and ridiculously expensive) Breitling that I received as a college graduation present stolen from my house when we had a party about two years ago. I was in Vegas last weekend and I kind of got interested again in buying one...anyone have any recommendations (don't recommend me a watch that costs $10K please )?

I like my citizen eco-drive. never have to screw with batteries or winding. they're between $200-600. A steel Rolex like an Explorer or Datejust starts around $4k.

Go to a jewelery store and look around. or look online, there are a ton of dealers online. Anything above $200 or $300 is probably a decent piece.
