When I first installed the beta I thought it was just a mistake in the installation, so I just unistalled and went back to 1.4

But when I just went for a game on shingle I still couldn't hear the voice sounds (e.g. enemy spotted/medic!!!!)
All I get is a shhhhh (the background sound behind the words that are normally there)

I tried the other maps and they are all fine

So does anyone know what's wrong (because I re-installed before, I doubt that doing another will solve my problem)

Do you have surround sound option turned on? That might be causing your problems.

(sorry I don't know if this is correct, there might not be a surround sound option. lol I haven't used sound options for bf2 in awhile)

I have no idea if there is a surround sound option, if so can someone point me towards it

BF2 (and its $80 mod) both go nomnomnom on whatever speaker setup you have in Windows. Try changing from hardware to software.

Are you Vista by any chance?

already on software and not on vista
but new development. It's just not the 2 new maps, (it was with the beta, because I checked on a local game) but now it does it on what ever map I'm on, so I'm going in search for my sound files to see something, anything lol

Damn this 1.5 patch, it's been nothing but annoying

ok, problem solved

fiddled with the sound.con file, turns out voice sound was set at 0%, lol not sure how it got like that but probably like the thing with the controls file clearing itself, anyway problem over

In Patch 1.5, EA Has changed some sound congfigurations for 2142.

For example.
When you hear Backround Radio Static, But not the actual words,
It means your "Help Voice-Over" Audio Setting in the Options Menu is Set to 0%.

Set it to anything Above 0% Will re-enable Radio Commands.
