So fake. There's no way that an onion is gonna give out five volts, and even if it did, it would also be giving five volts to the signal pins of the USB cable, breaking the iPod.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If you watch this video, he tries the experiment and it doesn't even produce enough electricity to power a standard usb flash light. So I doubt it can even trickle charge an ipod.
