Sydney, that sounds fucking awesome. How long did it take to haul that thing out of the water and get to the meat?
For the rest of you "oh noez pr0tect teh whalez" people, gtfo, I didnt get to the top of the food chain to be restricted on what I want to eat

Light is both photons and electromagnetic rays at the same time. It has a mass, yet it has no mass. Very complex thing it is indeed.

To be fair, everything is born to die. Don't get me wrong though, the way that some animals are treated does really suck.SEREVENT wrote:

As for OP -
"Save the Whales" "Nuke the Whales" (Which happens to be a custom game in StarCraft lol)
A lot of people jumping on the bandwagon for the slogans that PETA throws out like confetti. If it's an endangered species, yes, it's understandable to be insulting the OP; but as it has been pointed out (at least I believe), it's not.
Here's what I don't really understand: I vaguely remember seeing a thread where the OP went hunting. The vast majority crapped on the OP for "senselessly killing the animals." A few understood that the OP was hunting to control the population of that certain animal - which was actually considered a pest - but most didn't. However, a few people did say that you shouldn't kill animals unless you're planning on eating them.
Now here, the OP kills an animal, then eats it. Then proceeds to get shat on. Catch-22 anyone? Give the guy a break. I don't really see anyone here protesting veal, or baby cow. I mean, they're babies for crying out loud.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a huge fan of killing animals myself. I'm not that squeamish, but I'd rather not kill unless neccessity dictated it. It's just that hunting and essentially, farming animals is part of what we have to do IMO.
damn people
the whale species was not endangered, in fact, hunting is encouraged, as it has no natural predators.
that said, I've never had whale, it's hard to get in the U.S., and I don't trust food in other countries

As long as the species isn't endangered and the animal lived in well enough conditions, I don't see why people make a fuss about it.
And physics is God's way of screwing with our brains, by both making us wonder "How the shit can light have mass and be massless?" and by shooting carcinogenic space rays.

why though? the things are bred for slaughter, regardless of how you treat them. food prices are high enough as it is without adding free range to the mix.Varegg wrote:
That is something we can agree on and i follow about the same principles as you, there should be more focus on the treatment of animals for food production in general ... and for the often underpaid and unfairly treated people working in some of the food industry ...SEREVENT wrote:
Um, i don't know where the line as a whole should be drawn. But i don't agree in eating or killing whales/dolphins. I only eat free range and organic products. Pigs are quite intelligent, and when the "farmers" keep pigs in those little cubicals they don't even sit. They stand for their entire lives, no, they are also thrown, literally thrown, chickens too, into the lorries to be taken to the slaughter house. The animals are forcefed and have beaks chopped, no vaccinations and are born to die.Varegg wrote:
Okay.
So the deal is not that we hunt whale for food like we do with so many other animals but that it is the most intelligent animal ? ... at what intelligence level do you draw the line ?
That is where i would draw the line.
Free range, Organic and Fair Trade
eat in moderation.

I swear, you people all belong to PETA. Anytime a hunting topic comes up, all you city slicks jump in and start bitching about animal rights or endangered species or it's cruel. They're animals, get over it.
K, don't hunt the whales in Aus waters though, I enjoy watching them.
Firstly it's savage to treat animals poorly either it is your pet or an animal meant for food production, secondly free range products in a larger scale isn't that more exspensive, thirdly it is a way better product that tastes better ...Ender2309 wrote:

Yes they are animals, but when you consider that we are wiping out most living things on the planet, we need to stop and level out the ecological balance of the world or we are all screwed...CrazeD wrote:

Like? Sure, there are a bunch of animals that are close to extinction because of over hunting, but thats far from MOSTELITE-UK wrote:

The minke whale base has never been recorded as populated as it is today, which is why we started hunting them again.

I think that as long as its in no threat of extinction and the hunting limits are both fair and rigorously enacted then its fine to hunt an animal if your going to eat it no matter what type of animal it is (mammel, fish, bird etc...) What I don't like is trophy hunters who kill an animal just to brag that they have not for food.
Well, you arent going to be living in that city without the farmers and small communities to support itoChaos.Haze wrote:
