Say what you will about Democrats undermining our efforts in Vietnam, but Nixon, a REPUBLICAN, pulled us out of Vietnam.  He made the right choice, by the way.

Vietnam was a bad idea to begin with, mostly because of the terrain involved.  Also, consider the fact that Communism looked like a good alternative to the Vietnamese after the abuses they suffered from the French.  So, we were handicapped from the get-go by European oppression.

Of course, Communism ended up being even worse for the Vietnamese than the French were.
