EDIT: Oops thought 230 v = 230watt.

Looks good, one thing, it looks like you have an HP. I'd make sure that PSU fits in your case.

I though 200v does = 200w?
Is there any 600w PSU that would fit into a HP case? if not, will it be a big problem if it does'nt fit properly?

No, I looked at the v and thought it was a w. Sorry.

I'll go check for HP approved PSU's brb.

I need the name of your desktop, the set of numbers.

EDIT: http://www.beachcomputers.com/power.htm

If all else fails, just get the PSU you are looking it, and ghetto rig it, by putting the PSU on top of the case and running the cables through the opening. If you aren't planning to build a custom, I'd advise not to do this.

Volts definitely do not equal watts.  Volt is electric potential and watt is a unit of power.  So I think he means 230W PSU.

Should work fine. You defineately need the extra power.

they're all standard size, I put a 600w and an xfx 8800 in my HP last year, and it works perfectly.

It's a bitch to get the cables out of the motherboard though, it's not very accessible in the case, crammed behind the dvd-rom drive.

i dont have an SLI port on my HP pc so it really reduces my choice. What would be the best Nvidia gfx card without SLi?
and Lythberg, i know what you mean about the cables, how did you manage to get it out and put in the new one?

sli is a system of combining the power of two cards in two seperate pci slots with an sli bridge chip

pci is the latest and greatest gfx card socket....

It needs an PCI-E slot on your motherboard. It will not fit in an normal PCI slot!!

Edit: an 8800GTS is also big, maybe you should take a picture of the inside of your case and post it here. Or measure yourself, as far as I can see the HP is an pre-build computer, so make sure all the parts you are planning to buy fit the chassis.

Iv already ordered the parts but thankfully, I have a PCI-E slot as its currently housing the original 8500GT and where the gfx card fits through the back, there is an empty slot so it will fit

u really dont know how it works,

2 cards = sli

1 card will never take up two pci slots
1 single gts will take up one slot

2 gts's ....in sli will take up two ...if u mobo is sli compatible

GTS is dual slot in one way. It blocks access to the slot below even two it has only one connector. maybe he was thinking it like that?
