Why is everbody so eager to use artillery?

Well, I've noticed the obvious eagerness of commanders to fire the artillery. I really don't understand it. Even when they're winnig, eg they 100 tickets advantage, i hear cannons roaring. Why are they stealing their own points?

Recently I was fired upon while taking the hotel at Karkand. Well, it was my commander who ordered this nice little barrage, as I got to the flag.
Are there other people here with similar expiriences? Do you think the punish for arty TK should be reintroduced?

NO NEVER TO BE INTRODUCED AGAIN!! There are allways noobs that think that that red circle is some sort of power up..

WTF is this stupid post being u having met a noob commander doesn't say any negative thing about Artillery.
A smart commander (which u ain't aswell) knows what to do, let him handle it.

Well, I'd prefer another system. Something like: if the player is already in the area when the artillery is fired and the radio warning is broadcast, he could punish. If he is not, he's unable to.

The big red X means haul ass out of the area. Plus it's their fault for not joining a squad so the commander can give voice message warnings. I dont know how many times I've selected a squad, with only one man in it mind you, and repeatedly warned "Artillery, in your area", ordered him to over a few meters off, and still watched the guy run right into it.

Hell, why dont they bring back the mine/claymore TKs so those two kits are rendered useless? Some servers boot after three TKs so just imagine how shitty arty would be if you were afraid of ruining your stats or getting kicked in those situations you needed to bring it in real close.

ok y is everyone pissing on this guy? I dont know what he exactly means by this poste but i do agree that Artilery is being used way too much. But then why is it there? To be used of coarse.

Because its fun? I only use them when i think it will do some good as soon as its ready to go and i dont see a blob of enemies or something i dont just fire it at a few enemies i always use it on a huge blob of enemies some times i kill a few team mates but it happens.

Its funny the idiots requesting artillery on a target and theres like only one person there or no one around haha.

I was playing at a friends house on Warlord and I was commander of SAS. I see a huge blob of red in Palace Security office, so I launch my arty there. My friend, who was sitting right beside me decided right at that moment he was going to charge in. He killed all 8 of them, and I proceeded to get one solo team kill for my effort.

I hate when that happens, I had a big blob, ordered an arty. strike, the two team mates that were nearby cleared the area and got hit.

Arty is there to be used. You might as well use it when you can. I make a concereted effort to have my arty hit the target right before the squad arrives to they can mop up the leftovers quickly and easily while the enemy is disoriented.

Sometimes my timing is off and I get them instead of the enemy. Why use arty on the enemy repeatedly when you have a large lead tickets? Simple to ensure you get the win that much quicker.

Dropping arty on an enemy position gives your team an advantage. While they are running for their lives, you can pick them, one at a time. A tank driving away from arty isn't paying 100% attention to his surroundings. The same goes for infantry.

It is called artillery "support" for a reason!

Why are people so eager to use UAV, when I'm commanding I get shouted at loads.
"negative, uav already arbourne... Negative, uav already arbourne.... NEGATIVE uav already arbourne...
It would be funny if he shouted and got really angry at you if you kept clicking it.

Seriously Artillery has so many uses, rather than just blowing people up. It's a damn good deterant too.

My question is why did you go for the flag on Karkand blindly instead of paying attention to you HUD and noticing the BIG red Arty cirlce.

I think those who get blown up by friendly arty should lose points. There is no reason to get hit by friendly arty - there are squads to join and a HUD to warn you. It's your own fault, quit shifting the blame to a commander trying to manage 3 squads and 20 lone wolfs.

When you hear commander's spamming: "Arty, your area!" That means get out. Btw... If I see that you dont have a chance to defend the flag or I see multiple enemies around your location I will send arty on you. 1tk and 5 arty kills is better than nothing.

No, you shouldn't. Ocassionally to save a flag from being capped it might be a good idea to drop arty on the flag when your guy is out numbered 4 or 5 to 1.

I like to command and i always use the artillerly. Its in the game for a reason and a person should use all means at his disposall to win the game dont you think? I hate to tk with it but sometimes it has to be done, plus its not like their isnt a big red artillery warning on the HUD or anything.
